Ex-pat rushing home from Bali to say goodbye to cancer-stricken father reveals dad died before he could return to the UK - after he was told he must quarantine for ten days at hotel

An ex-pat Brit who was rushing home from Bali to visit his cancer-stricken father who was given days to live was handed the devastating that his father had died before he was able to get to him.   This week James Gospel, who lives and works in Bali, was told his father Gerald could die at any moment from his advanced-stage bowel cancer and immediately tried to arrange to rush to his bedside. But unfortunately his plans were scuppered when he contacted the Department of Health -  who do offer exemptions to quarantine rules in extreme compassionate circumstances - to be told he didn't qualify to go to stay with his father.  James was in the process of arranging flights back to the UK when he was given the devastating news his father had died.  Speaking from Bali, he said: 'Unfortunately my dad passed away last night. It was peaceful and he was surrounded by family.' Mr Gospel said he still intends to return to see his mother and other family members and hopes he can arrange t

Pen Farthing and his animals WILL be evacuated from Kabul after army helps them through airport and government finally gives charter flight clearance - but MoD makes no mention of his 24 Afghan staff

Pen Farthing and his rescue dogs have been allowed through at Kabul airport and will be evacuated from Afghanistan after the government finally gave his charter flight clearance to take off.  Defence bosses confirmed on Twitter that the former Royal Marine and his animals are awaiting transportation and are being supported by the UK Armed Forces after he was helped through the airport by the army. When contacted by the MailOnline, the Ministry of Defence declined to clarify whether the charter flight would also be transporting Mr Farthing's 25 Afghan staff. 'Pen Farthing and his pets were assisted through the system at Kabul airport by the UK Armed Forces. They are currently being supported while he awaits transportation,' the Ministry of Defence said in a tweet on Friday night. 'On the direction of the Defence Secretary, clearance for their charter flight has been sponsored by the UK Government,' the statement added.  Paul 'Pen' Farthing's campaign to g

Parents are split down the middle on whether 12-year-olds should get Covid vaccines as Nicola Sturgeon says Scotland is 'ready' and raring to go with plans to jab children

Parents are still split down the middle on whether 12-year-olds should get Covid vaccines, as Nicola Sturgeon announced Scotland is 'ready and raring to go with plans to jab children.  Pfizer's and Moderna's jabs have already been approved for 12- to 17-year-olds by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency but the JCVI has yet to formally recommend them for youngsters. NHS England bosses have already told trusts to be ready to expand the roll out in just two weeks, amid fears the virus will 'rip through schools' unless pupils are immunised before the new term.  Whitehall insiders claim Boris Johnson wants the NHS to 'crack on' with vaccinating children. The Prime Minister has reportedly become frustrated with the JCVI's delay in approving plans, which has left little time for children to get vaccinated before returning to classroom. Some concerned parents have already hit out at the move, claiming even with vaccines there is 'nothing

Drug dealers who 'lived like footballers' face jail after showing off ill-gotten gains and even their safe house in professionally-produced drill rap videos

Drug-dealing gang members who flaunted their 'footballer lifestyles' in drill rap music videos are facing jail after unwittingly giving police vital clues which helped put them away.  The Nottingham-based gang, headed by rapper Akeem Chand, 27, released videos of gang members splurging on Rolex watches and taking trips to the Caribbean.  Chand, aka Brutz, boasted about how the group needed a 'Money Counter' to keep track of their ill-gotten gains - while one video uploaded to YouTube revealed the location of one of their safehouses.   In a music video for the song Lifestyle, 'Brutz' can be seen holding wads of cash and shopping for luxury watches and what appear to be diamond-encrusted bracelets and chains.   The rapper and several others can then be seen enjoying a trip to Mexico's Caribbean coast, complete with luxury accommodation and private yacht hire. Other shots feature drone footage of flats which were later raided by police and found to contain dr
