Bishop Sycamore is NOT a high school: New coach claims it is a 'post-grad football academy' after it 'duped' its way into coveted ESPN-televised game that ended in bizarre 58-0 loss

The newly hired Bishop Sycamore football coach has admitted that the supposed online high school that garnered nationwide attention last week following a 58-0 blowout loss on ESPN is not a school at all, but rather, a 'post-grad football academy.' Coach Tyren Jackson did not shed any light on how the program managed to book a coveted game against the defending national champion IMG Academy on August 29 — a bizarre spectacle that raised concerns over player safety — but he did tell WCMH-TV in Columbus, Ohio that the 'misconception' over Bishop Sycamore was simply a 'mistake on paperwork.' 'We do not offer curriculum,' Jackson said. 'We are not a school. That's not what Bishop Sycamore is, and I think that's what the biggest misconception about us was, and that was our fault. Because that was a mistake on paperwork.'  It remains unclear how Bishop Sycamore booked the prestigious game at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, but event org

Mother vents her fury after her daughter is threatened with detention for her 'too short' skirt which is a size bigger than the one she wore last year

A mother has vented her fury after her daughter was given a detention warning for her skirt being too short. Tammy Humphreys' daughter arrived home from Ysgol Eifionydd in Porthmadog on Monday with a note from the school saying she would be sent to detention if she wore the same outfit again.  The black skirt was deemed too short as it was above the knee rather than being knee-length as the school's uniform policy states. A mother has vented her fury after her daughter was given a detention warning for her skirt being too short Tammy said she 'couldn't believe it' when her daughter told her she would be sent to detention if she wore the skirt again. She said it was the same type of skirt her daughter had worn the previous year, but a size up.  The Year 8 pupil is one of 18 students at the school who were given a detention warning over their uniform on the first day of the new school year on Monday. Tammy said: 'My daughter returned from her first day back in sch

Smart motorway upgrade is on its way at last: Accident blackspots on notorious stretches of road are to be made safer, highways bosses announce

Safety improvements are to be made to notorious stretches of smart motorway, road chiefs said yesterday. Extra emergency laybys, more warning signs and further road markings will be introduced by National Highways. The agency had commissioned independent studies of a section of the M6 near Birmingham and three stretches of the M1 near Luton, Sheffield and Wakefield.  Safety improvements are to be made to notorious stretches of smart motorway, road chiefs said. Engineers will build an extra emergency refuge on the M1 in South Yorkshire

'Judges are not nurses or doctors': Ohio judge tosses colleague's decision to allow COVID patient, 51, to be treated with horse dewormer ivermectin

An Ohio judge ordered a hospital to stop treating a COVID-19 patient with horse deworming drug ivermectin, reversing a colleague's earlier decision to allow the treatment, because 'judges are not nurses or doctors'.  Jeffrey Smith, 51, has been in the West Chester Hospital's intensive care unit since mid-July battling COVID-19 and has been on a ventilator for more than 30 days.  After he was placed on a ventilator, his wife, Julie Smith, reached out to Dr. Fred Wagshul - who is listed as a founding physician of Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance and who promotes the horse deworming drug as treatment for the virus - for a prescription, according to The Washington Post. When the doctors refused, Julie Smith took the hospital to court, and after a months-long battle a different Ohio judge ordered that he be administered the treatment. That order lasted 21 days.  On Monday, Butler County Judge Michael A. Oster Jr. reversed the order and told the hospital to cease ad

PHE says it has spotted 53 cases of 'Mu' Covid variant in UK which is feared to be resistant to vaccines and is already spreading in 49 US states

More than 50 Britons have been infected with the 'Mu' Covid variant which experts fear blunts the effect of vaccines and is already spreading in all but one US state. Public Health England said it had spotted 53 cases of the mutant strain — which emerged in Colombia — and that it was first detected in Britain in May. Scientists believe that while Mu is more transmissible than the original virus, it does not appear to be infectious enough to outcompete the Delta variant.   Delta was first detected in Britain in late March and had become dominant by May, for comparison.  Professor Lawrence Young, a virologist at Warwick Medical School, said he believed Delta likely represented 'peak infectiousness' for Covid and would be 'very, very surprised' if Mu or any other strain was even more transmissible. But he warned Mu's vaccine-resistance may make it a future threat, telling MailOnline: 'We may have reached peak infectiousness with the Delta variant but what w

'He should NOT be paroled': RFK's widow Ethel Kennedy, 93, joins six of her children in objecting to release of assassin Sirhan Sirhan - in opposition to sons RFK Jr and Bobby

Sirhan Sirhan, 77, was recommended to be released on parole by a California panel on August 27 after 53 years in prison for murder (Pictured at his parole hearing on August 27)  Robert Kennedy's widow, Ethel Kennedy, 93, released an official statement on Tuesday claiming that her husband's killer Sirhan Sirhan, 77, should not be paroled.  The Kennedy family has been publicly divided since August 27 when a California panel recommended that RFK's assassin Sirhan be granted parole after nearly five decades in prison.   Six of the nine surviving children of the slain New York Senator issued a statement that day announcing that they were 'devastated' by the San Diego panel's ruling.  But two of RFK's children, Douglas Kennedy, 54, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., 67, have supported Sirhan's parole.  On Tuesday, widow Ethel released an official statement which read: 'Bobby believed we should work to 'tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of the

Poignant clip of Michael K. Williams and Anthony Bourdain on No Reservations resurfaces as fans draw comparisons between the troubled legends

A 2012 episode of No Reservations featuring Michael K. Williams and Anthony Bourdain has resurfaced, prompting fans to draw comparisons between the Wire star and travel show host who both battled their demons, and lost.  Williams, 54, died of a suspected overdose at his luxury Brooklyn apartment where he was found on Monday, next to drug paraphernalia. News of Bourdain's death was similarly shocking, after he committed suicide in a hotel room in France in June, 2018.    Both men had highly publicized battles with heroin and suffered from addiction and depression. Yet both were able to achieve greatness in their fields; with Williams putting in unforgettable performances as Omar in The Wire, Albert 'Chalky' White on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire and most recently as Montrose Freeman in Lovecraft Country.  Bourdain, similarly, shook the restauranting world with book Kitchen Confidential, about life as a chef in New York's restaurant scene, and went on to travel the worl
