7 foreign hostages killed in Nigeria Claims Italy

7 foreign hostages killed in Nigeria Claims Italy European diplomats said on Sunday that the 7 foreign hostages kidnapped in northern Nigeria had been killed as claimed by Islamic extremists, the worst such foreign abduction violence to hit this turbulent West African nation in decades. Both Britain and Italy said all seven of those taken from northern Bauchi state on Feb. 16 were killed by the group known as Ansaru. Greece also confirmed one of its citizens was killed, while Lebanese authorities did not immediately comment. "It's an atrocious act of terrorism, against which the Italian government expresses its firmest condemnation, and which has no explanation, if not that of barbarous and blind violence," a statement from Italy's foreign ministry read. Italy also flatly denied a claim by Ansaru that the hostages were killed before or during a military operation by Nigerian and British forces, saying there was "no military intervention aimed at freeing

Justin Timberlake Fires Back to Kanye West

Justin Timberlake Fires Back to Kanye West It took a couple of weeks, but Justin Timberlake has finally responded to Kanye West's anti "Suit and Tie" rant, with a shot of his own on "SNL" last night. It happened when JT was performing 'Suit and Tie' with Jay-Z last night -- the singer changed the lyrics from "Aww, s**t so sick, got a hit and picked up a habit" to "my hit's so sick got RAPPERS acting dramatic." Not the strongest insult in the world ... but pretty obviously directed at Kanye West, who last month during a concert, dissed the song  "I got love for Hov, but I ain't f--king with that 'Suit & Tie.'" It ain't exactly Tupac vs. Biggie ... but gotta love the drama.

Republicans resumes effort to repeal Obamacare

Rep. Paul D. Ryan says his forthcoming budget proposal will include repeal of "Obamacare," as his party calls it. WASHINGTON – Republicans in Congress are renewing their political assault on the nation’s new healthcare law, trying to repeal President Obama's signature domestic achievement as part of the next battle over the federal budget. Rep. Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin, last year's Republican vice presidential nominee, said Sunday his forthcoming budget proposal will include repeal of "Obamacare," as his party calls it. That position puts tea-party conservatives at odds with others in the GOP who want to find common ground with Obama on the nation's fiscal woes after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the health law. In the Senate, conservatives will press for a vote this week to delay funding for the health law as part of a bill that must pass to keep the government running beyond March 27. "We say we get rid of 'Obamacare,' " Rya

Chuck Hagel is in Afghanistan for his first official visit to the country since taking on the role of defense secretary. Hagel spent much of his first morning in Afghanistan touring a training center for officers and enlisted men and women. KABUL — Afghan President Hamid Karzai lashed out at the United States in strikingly acerbic terms Sunday, implying that the American military was stoking violence in collusion with the Taliban to justify a prolonged presence here and charging that foreign troops were harassing Afghan university students. The remarks painted an embarrassing picture of discord that marred Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel’s first foreign trip as Pentagon chief and plunged the tenuous allies into crisis mode at a time when the United States is struggling to wind down the unpopular war in a dignified manner. Afghan and American officials provided differing accounts about why a joint news conference scheduled for Sunday night that had been expected to be the center

Lil’ Kim Lil’ Kim is suing her lawyer and business partner for $1 million, claiming that she was swindled her out of endorsement money. She claims that Bakrats, along with friend Andrew Ro, robbed her of “valuable trademark and branding rights” in regard to liquor, makeup, and fashion endorsements. Lil’ Kim said that Bakrats promised he “multimillion dollar deals for [Kim’s] brands in the cosmetic and perfume business,” but failed to back up his claims. Bakrats sees it differently. He said that Lil’ Kim just wanted to get out of a contract, saying her lawsuit was just “another frivolous attempt by Lil’ Kim and her attorneys to get out of what is otherwise a binding agreement.” Sunny predicted that the judge would throw out Lil’ Kim’s lawsuit. With Lil’ Kim suing her lawyer, it is more drama in the life of the diminutive rapper, who in recent years has had a beef with fellow Brooklyn rapper Nic

$250,000 subway typo: Over 80,000 Maps misprints A $250,000 subway typo is causing some major issues for the New York transit authority today. On March 9, the New York Post reported that brand new signs had to be taken down and thrown away after someone realized that the fare amounts on them were incorrect. This is costing a lot of money for the MTA and it caused major mayhem this week when workers were urgently ordered to stop distributing the maps. "They’re very embarrassed about this. They were frantically calling the booths trying to get these maps back," a transit source said. Apparently the Transit Workers Union Local 100 made the mistake, and printed over 80,000 maps with the wrong information on them. The $250,000 subway typo won't be rectified until later this week. According to the report, new maps won't be distributed until March 15. Many people have the maps containing the wrong information and they may get a surprise when they learn that the fares li

Report: Obama Pokes Fun at Self at Gridiron Dinner

Barack Obama (center) leaves the Gridiron dinner on Saturday. President Barack Obama poked fun at himself, Bob Woodward and Washington reporters on Saturday at a dinner that brought together the country's press and political elites. Attending the Gridiron Club dinner, Obama made light of a recent back and forth between his administration and Woodward, the veteran Washington Post journalist whose reporting on the Watergate scandal helped bring down Richard Nixon's presidency. "Can anybody tell me when an administration has ever regretted picking a fight with Bob Woodward?" Obama joked. "What's the worst that could happen?" Woodward and White House economic adviser Gene Sperling had a public tussle that played itself out in a leaked email, in which Sperling told the veteran journalist he would regret taking a position on one of Obama's policies.
