Saudi Arabia executes 7: Appeals to king rejected

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Seven Saudi men convicted of theft, looting and armed robbery were beheaded on Wednesday, according to the country’s official news agency, more than a week after their families and a rights group appealed to the king for clemency. The executions took place in Abha, a city in the southern region of Asir, the Saudi Press Agency said. The south has been marginalized and suffered discrimination by the powerful central region where the capital, Riyadh, and the holy shrines of Mecca and Medina are located. The seven were arrested in 2006 and received death sentences in 2009, a Saudi newspaper reported at the time. The case was back in focus after Human Rights Watch earlier this month called for the sentences to be canceled because the men were juveniles at the time of their arrest. One of the men told The Associated Press in early March that he was only 15 when he was arrested as part of a ring that stole jewelry in 2004 and 2005. Nasser al-Qahtani said he was torture

Judge Judy sued: Expensive Dishes

Judge Judy Sheindlin is now on the other side of the bench: The TV judge is being sued by a woman who claims Sheindlin owes her money for fine china, TMZ.com reports. TV Scorecard: Renewed or canceled? Patric Jones claims her former husband Randy Douthit, a producer on Judge Judy, sold Sheindlin the couple's expensive Christofle tableware for $50,000, even though Jones claims it's worth $514,421.14. Because the sale was done without Jones' consent, she now claims Sheindlin should return the china or pay the rest of what she believes she's owed. Jones is also seeking punitive damages, claiming that Douthit agreed to reduce his profit participation on Judge Judy so he wouldn't have to give Jones as much money in the divorce settlement. "I have not seen any complaint by the former Mrs. Douthit, however, I don't owe this lady a cent," Sheindlin told TMZ. "And if this 50-year-old woman would spend her time more productively at trying to find a job, in

Steenkamp met her ex: Reeva met her ex

Oscar Pistorius might be on the verge of suicide, according to a friend of his who blabbed about his mental state to the media. (Ah, with friends like that ...) The pal, Mike Azzi, says of the Olympian accused of killing his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp: "He’s just like someone walking around in circles. He doesn’t know where he is going. I would say that, just by speaking to him, he is a broken man. I’d go as far as to say he would be on the verge of suicide." No doubt we already saw much of this "broken man" in court. Oscar wept copiously all throughout his hearings. Is this a man who truly did commit a horrible accident? Or a man who truly regrets his moment of murderous rage? And could that rage have been triggered by ... jealousy? Most killers you see in court are emotionally static. They have no facial expression, they certainly don't cry. So Oscar is either the Paralympian Robert De Niro or he truly is sorry for his actions. But does he regret them
