Squandered millions of Philadelphia media heirs: How family spent fortune on Diana's dresses and flying DOGS to the Caribbean as son is found guilty of $3million fraud

A court in Philadelphia has heard details of how a family with a fortune from their inherited media company squandered away millions by buying dresses owned by Princess Diana, enough marijuana to supply a daily drug habit, and funding the college education of a porn star. Michael Scripps, 36, was found guilty for depleting his mother Melissa and autistic uncle David's fortunes with his lavish spending. Before she could point the finger at him, however, she had to admit that she spent millions on her own whims, paying to have her dogs flown to their second home in the Caribbean by private plane and treating relatives to world cruises. She also indulged on treats for herself, including two of Princess Diana's glamorous dresses, a Napoleonic tiara and teddy bears that cost thousands of dollars. Adding to her spending was her daily marijuana habit and the various legal bills that came from her four marriages. Her spending decisions are just the tip of the iceber

French police admit they contaminated vital evidence at Alps massacre crime scene as investigators say case could remain unsolved

French police contaminated vital evidence from the Alpine beauty spot where four people including members of a British family were gunned down in cold blood, it emerged today. It is the latest in a catalogue of disastrous blunders which have prompted senior investigators to admit that the case may never be solved. Detectives initially thought ‘mystery DNA’ found at the site of the quadruple murder might lead to the identification of the killer. It was found in the isolated layby near Lake Annecy where Saad Al-Hilli, 50, died alongside his wife Ikbal, 47, and his mother-in-law Suhalia Al-Allaf, 74, in their BMW car on September 5th. Sylvain Mollier, a 45-year-old French cyclist was also killed in the bloodbath, which is believed to have been carried out by at least one gunman brandishing a pistol. But Eric Maillaud, the Annecy prosecutor who is leading the enquiry, now admits that an ‘expert’ working for a police forensics team ‘accidentally contaminated’ crime-scene

Pioneer behind the vaccine for Polio dies in Philadelphia at the age of 96

Dr. Hilary Koprowski, a pioneering virologist who developed the first successful oral vaccination for polio, died this week at his suburban Philadelphia home. He was 96. Although not as well-known as fellow researchers Jonas Salk and Albert Sabin, Koprowski's 1950 clinical trial was the first to show it was possible to vaccinate against polio, the crippling and sometimes fatal disease that's now all but eradicated. Koprowski's son, Christopher, said Saturday his father liked the scientific recognition his work received without the celebrity of Salk and Sabin. "He enjoyed not having his scientific work disrupted," said Christopher Koprowski, chief of radiation oncology at Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, Del. "Not that he was a modest individual, mind you." Christopher Koprowski said his father had been sick for several months before dying Thursday in the same Wynnewood home he'd lived in since 1957. Inside North Korea: No ads, no planes, no internet, no mobiles, no 21st Century... A rare dispatch from deep within the lunatic rogue state enslaved by Zombie and Sons

Down, down inside the Pyongyang Metro stands a statue of the Eternal Ruler of North Korea, Generalissimo Kim Il Sung – dead these past 19 years but still calling the shots. Brainwashing cast in bronze. The regime’s florid propaganda blares from loudspeakers: ‘The pure white snows of our sacred mountains’ artillery will wipe the filthy enemy from existence.’ Or something like that. The newspaper racks on the platforms detail the latest from the ‘American imperialist aggressors’ and warn of thermo-nuclear war. Inside: Panorama reporter John Sweeney with a North Korean colonel overlooking the De-Militarised Zone Daily grind: Peasants working in a stream in a countryside that resembles a moonscape No ordinary North Koreans talk to us. Almost 400ft below the surface, it’s hard not to feel that we’re trapped inside a doomsday cult like the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas, or Jim Jones’s Peoples Temple in Guyana. Only this one is a cult nation, armed with nuke
