Gary Goldsmith: That cocaine sting in the Villa Bang Bang

In the popular imagination, Gary Goldsmith is the bête noire of the Middleton clan – tattooed, shaven-headed, an embarrassment to his sister Carole with his louche antics. When undercover reporters filmed the Duchess of Cambridge’s uncle apparently cutting up lines of cocaine at the colourfully named La Maison de Bang Bang – his eight-acre hideaway on the party island of Ibiza – it seemed that the string of lurid headlines that followed would see him banished by his image-conscious family. But predictions of Goldsmith’s downfall have proved to be wide of the mark. For as he reveals today in an exclusive interview with The Mail on Sunday, the reaction of the Middletons was not to cast him off – but, extraordinarily, to apologise for all the trouble they had caused to him. He says: ‘People like to think that I’m this black sheep, a bad boy. I’m not really. I’ve had my moments – I’m not totally innocent – but am I disliked by my family? No, that is simply not true. I’ve got a good heart

The porn heiress with more money than the Queen

She is the porn baron’s grand-daughter whose family wealth exceeds £300million. But although she is one of the luckiest 21-year-olds in the country, India Rose James is, it seems, keen to squander her fortune. The heiress, who was the youngest person to make yesterday’s Sunday Times Rich List, lives an indulgent and extravagant party lifestyle after benefiting from Paul Raymond’s will. Her £329million fortune, which she shares with her sister Fawn, makes them technically richer than the Queen. The rich list also revealed that: A record 118 women, collectively worth £55.287billion, are now among the 1,000 richest people in Britain; Russian oligarchs are three of the five wealthiest, including the top two positions; Aristocrats are being squeezed out of the super-rich club by the new money from overseas, with the highest ranked member of the landed gentry, the Duke of Westminster, falling to his lowest position yet; and The best-off continue to defy the economic gloom, with the collect

It is understood that her six-year-old son may have been with her when she was killed. Friends said Miss Younis, 30, had been planning a new life following the breakdown of her marriage after only five months. She had recently separated from her husband and was hoping to return to her native Pakistan for a fresh start, they said. Last night, as the 20-year-old woman was released on police bail until Thursday, Miss Younis’s home, in Oldham, remained sealed off. Sources said the murder was a ‘domestic’ incident but refused to elaborate. A post-mortem examination revealed Miss Younis died of multiple stab wounds. Miss Younis, who also has a nine-year-old daughter, moved to Oldham from Pakistan around ten years ago. She is divorced from the children’s father and remarried last year but recentl

They were screaming and crying': Boston nurses describe chaos

Nurses in Boston have recounted how they held the hands of terrified bombing victims as they wrapped their amputated legs and cleaned shrapnel and nails from their bloody wounds. A week after the marathon attack, their screams and cries continue to haunt the nurses who put their own fears aside to do their job as they were trained to do, comforting their patients. 'These patients were terrified. They were screaming. They were crying,' said Megann Prevatt, an ER nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, which treated 22 of the 187 victims the first day. 'We had to fight back our own fears, hold their hands as we were wrapping their legs, hold their hands while we were putting IVs in and starting blood on them, just try to reassure them.'
