Millwall 1 Blackburn 2: Shittu red card leaves Lions with 10 men

Jordan Rhodes gave Blackburn’s survival hopes a huge boost last night with a controversial late penalty. Millwall striker Rob Hulse scored an own goal to cancel out team-mate Karleigh Osborne’s early opener as both sides fought for their Championship lives. But the visitors were awarded a dubious spot kick in the 77th minute when Danny Shittu was adjudged to have tripped Grant Hanley, and Rhodes slotted home. ROSS ALLEN: Our fixture pile up is tough - up at 5am, fly to England at 7am

Ross Allen is a British centre forward with a better strike rate than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He has scored 53 goals in 37 games for Guernsey FC this season, but more impressive is his contribution to an incredible fixture pile-up that has seen the club in the middle of 20 games in 36 days. In his debut Footballers' Football Column he writes about that sequence, which started on April 1 and ends on May 6, and came about through postponed home matches in winter and an unlikely run to the FA Vase semi-final... Oh and a certain team-mate called Le Tissier. EXCLUSIVE: Football League's attempt to hammer out a deal with B&Q break down

The Football League have suffered a huge setback after potential new title sponsors B&Q suddenly pulled out of negotiations. The DIY chain had been expected to sign a three-year contract worth £21m to replace nPower as the backers of all three Football League divisions from the start of next season. But talks broke down on Monday with the Football League unaware why B&Q, who had previously shown huge enthusiasm for the sponsorship, had changed their mind at the last minute. No go: B&Q have pulled out of a deal to become the Football League's title sponsors Turning off the lights: NPower's sponsorship of the Football League will come to an end this summer Fresh deal: Domino's Pizza are in the mix The disappointment at the breakdown of the deal is compounded by B&Q, who have stores near numerous Football League clubs, being regarded as such a good fit for a sponsorship that has proved difficult to fill. But their exit leaves the Football League commer

Gerrard given chance to relive Olympiakos screamer with summer testimonial

Steven Gerrard scored one of the finest goals of his career against Greek side Olympiakos and he will have the chance to do it all over again this summer - but whether Luis Suarez will be on the field with him remains to be seen. The Liverpool legend has been granted a testimonial on August 3, the only pre-season game that will be played at Anfield. He scored a last-gasp thunderbolt against them in the 2004-2005 Champions League campaign which eventually saw Liverpool emerge as the competition winners in Istanbul. Suarez, however, is yet to learn his fate from the Football Association having been charged with violent conduct after biting the arm of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. If the FA give him a lengthy ban he may well be suspended from his captain's testimonial match. Scroll down for video Old boy: Steven Gerrard has been granted a testimonial in August A consoling arm: Luis Suarez went out for an Italian lunch with his wife, Sofia Balbi, in Liverpool's San Ca

Threatened by relegation now QPR boss Redknapp faces two driving offences

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has denied committing two motoring offences in Dorset last year. Redknapp, 66, who inherited a struggling Loftus Road outfit and has all-but failed to save them from relegation, did not attend Bournemouth Magistrates' Court He is accused of speeding on October 23 and also of failing to supply the driver's identity as required under section 172 of The Road Traffic Act. Redknapp did not attend court himself but Jonathan Morrissey, defending on his behalf, entered not guilty pleas to both counts. Relegation scrap: Harry's side look certain to be demoted A trial is scheduled at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court on 1 August. On the weekend Redknapp admitted his only regret this year is not trying harder to bring West Brom's Peter Odemwingie to relegation-bound QPR. Rangers are facing up to life in the npower Championship after Saturday's 2-0 defeat at home to Stoke left them 10 points adrift of safety with only four matches remaining.

Leeds United footballer, 18, 'joined another man to rape drunk woman at hotel

A Leeds United youth team player raped a drunk woman in a hotel after a night out and filmed the attack on a mobile phone, a court heard. Simon Lenighan, 18, is alleged to have carried out the sex attack on the woman with another man, Nathan Campbell, 23, in the Etap Hotel in Leeds. Leeds Crown Court heard the woman was woken by a chambermaid the next morning and had no idea where she was how she got there. The court heard that Lenighan and Campbell had left and her mobile phone and money were missing. Police were contacted and video footage was found on Campbell's mobile phone, the court was told. Robin Mairs, prosecuting, said: 'What we say is both Campbell and Lenighan used their video phones to film (the woman) while she lay naked in bed.' Mr Mairs said the men were laughing on the video but did not want to be seen on camera. He added: 'This video, the Crown says, is more than simply a sordid souvenir of what happened in that hotel room. It is more than a lack of d

EXCLUSIVE: Lennon sets sights on Boyd as champions prepare for transfer battle

Celtic are prepared to go toe-to-toe with Hull City this summer to land flamboyant playmaker George Boyd. The 27-year-old, who is currently on loan at the KC Stadium from Peterborough United, is high on the newly-crowned SPL champions’ wanted list. Capable of playing on the left wing or in behind the strikers, Celtic manager Neil Lennon believes Boyd can add flair and ingenuity to his current squad. Target: George Boyd currently is on loan at Hull from Peterborough Breakdown: Boyd was on the verge of joining Nottingham Forest in January before the deal collapsed And despite Championship side Hull being four points clear in their bid to join Cardiff in the Premiership, Lennon will not give up the fight to land the player on a Bosman even if Steve Bruce’s side achieve their goal of promotion. Celtic believe the lure of Champions League football, plus a salary that wouldn’t be curtailed by a transfer fee, could yet see the player ply his trade in Glasgow’s east end. Boyd, who earne

Terry yet to hold talks over new Chelsea deal as captain admits future is up in the air

Chelsea captain John Terry is unsure whether the club will open discussions over a contract extension this summer. The 32-year-old defender’s current five-year deal expires in 2014, but having been integral in the successes of the 10-year Roman Abramovich era, the former England skipper has been a more peripheral figure this season. Benched: John Terry is no longer a first-choice pick for Chelsea after struggling with injury 'I’ve got a year left at Chelsea after this,' Terry said in the London Evening Standard. 'People have spoken about no new contract and this kind of thing but it’s not even on the agenda at the moment. 'They may sit down with me once the season has finished and we’ll start talking then. Head boy: Terry did help Chelsea to a vital win over west London rivals Fulham in the Premier League 'Whether it’s a yes or a no I’ll continue to give my very best until my contract finishes.' Terry has endured a challenging campaign which featured

That's how you win the league in style, City! Rio takes dig at rivals after United success

Rio Ferdinand has taken a swipe at Manchester City after Manchester United cruised to the Premier League title - without relying on goal difference. United wrapped up their 20th championship with four games to spare thanks to last night's 3-0 win over Aston Villa. It ended City's brief reign as England's top dogs, and helped the Red Devils erase the memory of what happened 12 months previously, when Sergio Aguero's injury-time effort won the Premier League for City seconds after United had concluded their own campaign. Main men: Rio Ferdinand celebrates with Michael Carrick after United's 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford Job done: Sir Alex Ferguson and his players celebrate a 20th league title success for the Old Trafford club There has been nothing like the thrills this time around, with United establishing a comfortable advantage on the back of a series of key victories away from Old Trafford. And Ferdinand is relishing the ease with which domin
