Bill Clinton officially joins Twitter following in the footsteps of daughter Chelsea

Former President Bill Clinton is now in step with the times, he opened a verified Twitter account on Wednesday night. The 42nd President decided to try the microblogging phenomenon after comedian Stephen Colbert helped the 66-year-old, whose full name is William Jefferson, launch a page with the Twitter handle @prezbillyjeff on his Comedy Central show earlier in April. Mr Clinton's new account, @billclinton, hits a more presidential tone and has already amassed more than 300,00 followers in its first few hours of life. Scroll down for video. Authorities confirm body pulled from river is missing Brown student

Authorities confirmed on Thursday that a body pulled from Providence River in Rhode Island this week is missing Brown University student Sunil Tripath. Tripathi, 22, has been missing since the middle of March and last week he was wrongly rumored to be a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, given some physical similarities with one of the suspects, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. His distraught family expressed their 'indescribable grief' at his death and urged the media to use caution in the future. A mechanic who caused almost £100,000 worth of damage when he crashed a Lamborghini into a Ford Focus during an MoT brake test has been fined just £280. Andrew Mitchinson, 37, wrote off both the 6.2litre Murcielago worth £220,000 and the £7,500 Ford when he skidded and lost control on a wet road, South Lakeland Magistrates' Court heard. Prosecutor Peter Bardsley said witnesses had seen Mitchinson driving the 630 brake horsepower Lamborghini at ‘excessive speed’. 'Due to a combination of a wet road and skidding on a man hole cover, he lost control, left the carriageway for around 40 metres, came back onto it and hit the back of the parked car,' said Mr Bardsley. Mitchinson of Low Skelyghyll Farm, Windermere, admitted driving without due care and attention on November 6 last year while carrying out an MoT on behalf of Station Garage, Staveley, Cumbria, set up by his father, Alan. Teacher, 52, secretly filmed children undressing in dormitories

A teacher who filmed young children as they undressed in shower cubicles and dormitories and spreading the images online has been jailed. Simon Knowles, 52, made hundreds of videos and possessed nearly 20,000 indecent images of children, some of which were as young as three. Knowles was jailed for four-and-a-half-years after admitted 13 counts of making and distributing images of children being abused, as well as 11 charges of voyeurism. Knowles, who gave his address as a caravan park in Leeds, used covert cameras to capture school children getting changed for swimming lessons, York Crown Court heard today. The charges against the teacher included making indecent images of children, possessing indecent images of children, distributing indecent images of children and recording a person doing a private act. A 'highly dangerous' man has been jailed indefinitely for raping a young girl and attacking three more in a single night. After his arrest, John Hinton wrote a series of disturbing diary entries, describing himself as 'the devil' and writing: 'I still feel like killing and eating somebody.' He detailed sick fantasies about how he would 'catch the prey and tie her up', saying he wanted to cut a girl up, send her body parts to her family and then drink her blood. The 23-year-old left the four women fearing for their lives after preying on them in a park in Peterborough in the early hours of June 5 last year. New homeowner discovers unexploded 16lb bomb from WWII

When Henry Southall collected the keys to his new home he didn't expect to find an unexploded bomb from the Second World War in a kitchen cupboard. The 24-year-old was giving his parents the guided tour of the house in Borth y Gest, near Porhmadog, in north west Wales, when he found the 16lb artillery shell which was packed with high explosives. State officials refuse to release welfare benefit information

The governor of Massachusetts has signaled that the state will not release further information about welfare benefits paid out to Boston Marathon bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Gov. Deval Patrick's administration on Thursday flatly refused to answer any media inquiries about taxpayers money that funded the suspected bombers, citing the Tsarnaevs right to privacy.
