Could this hat banish bad hair days FOREVER?

An inventor has gone to extreme lengths to combat bad hair days by designing a special cap that dampens down loose locks. Entrepreneur Max Valverde, 29, from Massachusetts, created the product for people who wake up with an untameable hairstyle in the mornings. He discovered that the only way to fix bed hair was to have a shower or wash it in the sink, and came up with a bizarre hat to solve the problem. Bed hair: The extreme sportsman has invented a spongy shower cap to combat his untameable locks The Morninghead invention, which is shaped like a shower cap, is made of an absorbent material that acts like a sponge when it is placed under a tap. It doesn't leak or drip and dampens hair in seconds, smoothing down unwanted kinks, lumps and bumps without any mess. More... Time to bin your toner! One in five still use them daily, but their harsh

Cleanse, tone and moisturise is a mantra for millions of women, sold by the beauty industry as a sure-fire way to fresh, glowing skin. But while the benefits of cleansing and moisturising are obvious, part of the routine is simply habit for many women - and few question its benefits: toning. Toning is meant to remove the last traces of dirt and grime, leaving skin dewy and pores closed. According to market intelligence firm Mintel, one in five of us uses toners daily - which range in price from £1.32 for Simple's to £110 for Kanebo Cosmetics' Sensai Hydrachange Essence. Toning is meant to remove the last traces of dirt and grime, leaving skin dewy and pores closed - but the products contain alcohol and parabens which can damage our skin Astoundingly, this means toners are more popular than anti-ageing serums (used by 13 per cent) and acne products (three per cent). But many women who religiously apply this classic skin care product don't realise toners can include h

We haven't had sex for 19 years but I can't escape my cheating husband

DEAR BEL I’ve been married to my third husband for nearly 20 years. We had a great sex life before marriage, then it all went wrong. His son slept in the next room so it was a case of making love quietly and, soon, not at all. Even on holiday, when it was just the two of us, he still didn’t want to make love. I got so frustrated that I started to comfort eat and put weight on. He also put weight on, so that supposedly became the reason we didn’t have sex. 'If we split up, I have nowhere to go and a house sale wouldn't bring enough money for both of us to buy' Now in my 60s, I have osteoarthritis and feel I’ve let myself go. But he’s been eating better, walking and has never been fitter. A few months ago, he asked whether we could ‘resume marital relations’. I was so shocked I just stared at him and he said to think about it and went out the door. After 19 years with very few signs of affection, I was hardly in the mood! We talked and I tried not to be accusatory, just s

The ultimate sexual betrayal - and the guilt that haunted Liz Taylor to the grave

The jewellery case had once belonged to Elizabeth Taylor and it was the same beautiful shade of violet as her eyes. Inside were three sparkling pieces: sapphire earrings, a bracelet, and a matching necklace. Even without the cachet of coming from her personal collection, they were worth a sizeable amount and Taylor was specific about who they should go to following her death in March, 2011. While her relatives might have hoped that they would come their way, they were destined to go outside the family and, on the face of it, to the most unexpected of recipients. Devoted: Liz Taylor (centre) and Debbie Reynolds (right) with Eddie Fischer (left) in 1958 By then 79, the same age as Taylor when she died, her fellow Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds learned that it was she who would inherit the gems. That Reynolds might accept such a bequest would have seemed inconceivable back in 1958 when Taylor famously betrayed their friendship by stealing her husband Eddie Fisher and embroiling them

'Frank-N-Furter gave me my wife!': Jason Donovan leads the celebrity tributes

Jason Donovan has a lot to thank Dr Frank-N-Furter for. He played the pansexual, cross-dressing mad scientist in The Rocky Horror Show in 1998 – complete with suspenders, fright wig and layers of make-up thick enough to deflect missiles – and the role changed his life. Donovan credits the show, now celebrating its 40th anniversary, with saving him from the drug-addled state he’d fallen into by introducing him to his wife. 'Frank-N-Furter came into my life when I’d been out there having a pretty good time for quite a while,' says Jason, 44. This is something of a euphemism. Jason has admitted his drug habit had escalated uncontrollably by then. Indeed, in 1995 he collapsed at The Viper Room in LA at the 21st birthday party thrown for Kate Moss by her then-boyfriend Johnny Depp. Love: Jason Donovan with his wife Angela Malloch (left) and as Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show No longer was he perceived as the boy next door – which suited him fine. The future of bedtime, or the lazy parent's way out?

Juan Murdoch, a father-of-six from Idaho Falls, Idaho, has invented interactive pajamas which, when scanned with a camera phone or tablet, can tell bedtime stories. The pajamas are adorned with 47 clusters of dots that act like barcodes. When a child scans each cluster with a tablet or smartphone camera, a different bedtime story or lesson about an animal is launched. 'Kids have a patience level of about ten seconds,' the inventor, whose own children range in age from six to 18, told Today.com. 'The nice thing about these is they're instant.' Interactive sleepwear: Smart PJs are adorned by clusters of dots that act like bar codes. When they are scanned by a smartphone or tablet, they launch a bedtime story or animal lesson There are currently two apps that sync with his invention, called Smart PJs. The Smart PJ Stories app contains 47 different bedtime tales including Mother Goose classics and tales by the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. And the origi
