Will Santa Sunak let family groups of 12 join together over Christmas? ‘Rule of Six’ restriction may be lifted temporarily by Chancellor over festive period

The 'Rule of Six' restriction on social mixing could be lifted temporarily for Christmas to let family groups of up to 12 enjoy the festive period.  If approved, the limit on meetings of more than six people would be doubled during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to allow inter-generational celebrations.  The temporary total of 12 was chosen because it would allow two sets of grandparents and parents, three children and an aunt or uncle to meet without flouting the law.  Those two days were suggested because, typically, they are when families spend the most time indoors together – and by Boxing Day are keen to escape outside.  Business Secretary Alok Sharma is understood to be the leading Cabinet advocate of the plan – assuming Covid infection rates have been broadly kept under control by mid-December.  The 'Rule of Six' restriction on social mixing could be lifted temporarily for Christmas to let family groups of up to 12 enjoy the festive period. Campaigners questioned if aspiring drivers were really taking the test seriously, with one describing the zero results as ‘quite an achievement’.  While some of the questions are difficult, others should only require common sense. There are about 1,000 questions

Ms Atherton, who served in the Intelligence Corps, said: 'Too many incidences of bullying, harassment and rape in the military are slipping through a system of military justice that, many veterans say, is not fit for purpose, and which often leaves victims feeling more traumatised, angry and anxious than they were when they reported the incident in the first place.'
