Top lawyer says NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian MUST clarify just how intimate her relationship was with 'dodgy' Daryl Maguire - and it could lead to her losing her job

Gladys Berejiklian needs to clarify just how intimate her 'close personal relationship' with disgraced MP Daryl Maguire was as there could be massive ramifications for her job, a top lawyer says. The NSW Premier has repeatedly argued she was not in an 'intimate' relationship with Mr Maguire, but when asked in a weekend interview if she 'loved' him she said: 'I did'. Legal expert and former NSW director of public prosecutions Nicholas Cowdery said Ms Berejiklian's admission of love was potentially inconsistent with her claims before ICAC. If their relationship could be defined as 'intimate', Mr Maguire would be considered family and could cause a conflict of interest for Ms Berejiklian. Gladys Berejiklian has 'given up on love indefinitely' after revealing that she hoped to one day marry disgraced former MP Daryl Maguire This means she may have had to declare the dodgy land deals he was working on in Badgerys Creek and elsewhere. Top doctor shortage is risking 'catastrophe': Hospitals urgently need more consultants as they face huge backlog of treatment, medical union warns

Hospitals are battling a 'potentially catastrophic' shortage of consultants, as they face a huge backlog of treatment because of the pandemic, the British Medical Association warns today. Consultants are retiring early because of their workload, poor morale and controversial pension tax rules which cause senior doctors to lose out financially when they take on extra work. The BMA says the workforce needs to be urgently increased, if waiting lists and times are to be reduced, amid rising burnout and sickness absences. The doctors' union has collaborated with seven medical royal colleges and the Faculty of Intensive Medicine on a report looking to understand why consultants are seeking early retirement and a growing number of younger doctors are walking away from a career in the NHS. There are more plans to redraw the map of Australia following an extraordinary proposal for North Queensland to become its own state.  Whitsundays state MP Jason Costigan wants to split Queensland into two and give his beloved region the powers to make its own laws under the proposed title of the 'Reef State'. Inspired by Western Australia's 'WAexit' push to separate itself from the rest of the country, Mr Costigan believes his region is getting an unfair deal under a state government that's 'sucking the life out of north and central Queensland.'
