'You lied to us': Chris Cuomo asks why CNN should keep 'Anonymous' author Miles Taylor on payroll after he denied it was him - as he says Trump wanted to 'gas, electrify and shoot migrants at the border' and warns of his 'Nazi policies'

Chris Cuomo on Wednesday night blasted newly-revealed 'Anonymous' author Miles Taylor for lying about his true identity during an August interview with Anderson Cooper, asking the network contributor, 'Why should CNN keep you on the payroll?' The tense exchange came as part of Taylor's first interview since he outed himself earlier Wednesday as the unnamed author of a bombshell 2018 New York Times article that chronicled a 'resistance' within the Trump administration. 'You lied to us, Miles,' Cuomo told the former Department of Homeland Security chief of staff. 'You were asked in August if you were “anonymous” here on CNN with Anderson Cooper, and you said ‘no.’ 'Now, why should CNN keep you on the payroll after lying like that?' he continued to Taylor, who signed on as a network contributor in September. Taylor, who resigned from the White House last June, said he decided to strategically withhold his identity to force Trump to address h

Papa says don't preach! Pope refuses to cover his face indoors despite rising infection rates in Vatican - as experts urge him to wear a mask

The Vatican's own Covid-19 experts have raised concerns over Pope Francis' decision to forgo wearing a mask, saying the pontiff is particularly vulnerable to the disease. The Rev Augusto Zampini - one of the key members of the pontiff's Covid-19 commission - acknowledged that at the age of 83 and with part of his lung having been removed after an illness in his youth, Francis would be at high risk for complications if he were to become infected with Covid-19. Zampini is one of a commission of experts Francis appointed to help chart the Catholic Church's path through the coronavirus pandemic.   'He has started to use the mask now,' Mr Zampini said in response to reporters' questions about the pope's apparent disregard for protocol after being photographed numerous times without a mask indoors.  Pope Francis, 83, has frequently been pictured without a face covering apparently ignoring Vatican rules to wear a face mask indoors. Experts are concerned that th

Covid deniers are 'deluded' blasts NI health minister as he tells people who think it's 'a great hoax' to 'talk to a nurse'

Northern Ireland's Health Minister Robin Swann has blasted Covid deniers for their 'deluded' beliefs, urging them to 'stay in the house' and 'out of the road'. Mr Swann, who this month issued a call for more healthcare staff to join the battle against coronavirus as Northern Ireland faced a second surge, urged those who believed the virus was a hoax to speak to experts about the reality of the pandemic.   In an interview with the BBC the health minister said: 'I have a very simple message. 'I would ask them just to stay in the house, stay out of the road, because if they think this is a hoax, talk to a nurse, talk to a doctor, talk to a hospital porter, talk to someone who is currently working across our health service or a care home to see the reality of what Covid actually means.  Northern Ireland Health Minister Robin Swann urged Covid deniers to speak to experts about the reality of the pandemic 'If they think this is some sort of a great hoa

Nearly 6,000 Afghan civilians were killed or wounded in the first nine months of the year as heavy fighting between government forces and Taliban insurgents rages on despite efforts to find peace, a new United Nations report has found. There were 5,939 civilian casualties in the fighting - 2,117 people killed and 3,822 wounded - from January to September 2020, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said in the report, released on Tuesday.   Casualties among civilians had dropped 30% from the same period last year but UNAMA said violence has failed to slow since the beginning of talks between government negotiators and the Taliban that began in the Qatari capital of Doha last month.  'High levels of violence continue with a devastating impact on civilians, with Afghanistan remaining among the deadliest places in the world to be a civilian,' the mission said in the quarterly report.  A new report from the United Nations has found that 2,117 civilians were killed and 3,822 woun
