'Patients go in and only come out in a body bag': El Paso nurse describes 'The Pit' where COVID patients get just three rounds of CPR before being left to die as Texas enlists inmates to move bodies at morgue

A nurse in El Paso, Texas, has told of the 'horrific' conditions at hospitals in the city as the state grapples with one of the worst surges in coronavirus in the United States, and prison inmates are brought in to help carry the dead in morgues.   Registered nurse Lawanna Rivers took to Facebook to describe her time at the University Medical Center in El Paso where she claims patients were taken to a room called The Pit and given just three rounds of CPR before being pronounced dead.  In a video posted to Facebook November 7 she said: 'My first day at orientation, I was told that whatever patients go into the pit, they only come out in a body bag. I saw a lot of people die that I felt like shouldn't have died.  'This hospital's policy was they only get three rounds of CPR which was only six minutes, this out of all the codes we had, there is not a single patient that made it.'  Her shocking statement came as pictures taken Saturday show offenders, dressed i

An incoming Oregon county commissioner has vowed to hold a Thanksgiving dinner for 'as many family and friends' as she can find as she refuses to obey the governor's strict stay-at-home orders and the six-person limit on gatherings.   Tootie Smith, who is set to begin her position as chairwoman of the Clackamas Board of County Commissioners in January, has publicly said she will defy Gov Kate Brown's orders.  During a press conference on Friday, Brown ordered a two-week statewide 'freeze' on businesses and gatherings - the harshest restrictions since the stay-at-home order imposed on Oregonians at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic back in March.   In response to the order, Smith slammed Brown in a Facebook post on Saturday.   'My family will celebrate Thanksgiving with as many family and friends as I can find. Gov Brown is WRONG to order otherwise,' Smith wrote.  Meanwhile, cases in Clackamas County set a new record with 669 new infections in the

'The shark is called Sara and she's a part of about 20 sharks in the area who also have names.'   The female tiger shark was captured devouring a sailfish off the coast of the Maldi
