Son of a Kansas veterinarian who died from COVID-19 blasts anti-maskers in stinging obituary, saying that science 'has been disparaged and abandoned' by many selfish Americans

The son of a Kansas man who died from COVID-19 has used his father's obituary to blast Americans who refuse to wear masks.  Dr. Marvin James Farr, 81, died in isolation at a nursing home in Scott City, Kansas on Tuesday, prompting the angry obituary, penned by his middle-aged son, Courtney.  'Marvin was preceded in death by more than 260,000 Americans infected with COVID-19. He died in a room not his own, being cared for by people dressed in confusing and frightening ways.... his final days were harder, scarier and lonelier than necessary. He was not surrounded by friends and family,' Courtney wrote.  'He was born into an America recovering from the Great Depression and about to face World War II, times of loss and sacrifice difficult for most of us to imagine.  'Americans would be asked to ration essential supplies and send their children around the world to fight and die in wars of unfathomable destruction.  'He died in a world where many of his fellow America

The Vicar Of Dibley takes the knee: Dawn French will deliver a sermon about Black Lives Matter when the BBC comedy returns for Christmas

The Vicar Of Dibley will take the knee and deliver a sermon about Black Lives Matter when the award-winning BBC comedy returns to the screen for a series of Christmas specials. In a move critics say could undermine the BBC's impartiality, the Reverend Geraldine Kennedy – played by Dawn French – addresses the killing of George Floyd by American police officers and the broader issue of racism in one of the three ten-minute episodes. The sketch begins in a typically light-hearted fashion, with the vicar being filmed by farmer and parishioner Owen Newitt as she emerges into the fresh air after lockdown. Southern California and the San Joaquin Valley join the Bay Area in announcing a complete lockdown for at least three weeks after available ICU capacity dropped below Gov. Newsom's threshold of 15% and state hits a record 25,068 cases in 24 hours

Faced with a dire shortage of hospital beds, California's San Joaquin Valley and the Southern California region were placed under a sweeping new lockdown on Saturday in an urgent attempt to slow the rapid rise of coronavirus cases. The lockdowns were announced on Saturday as state health officials announced a record 25,068 new cases of COVID-19.  The California Department of Public Health announced Saturday that a shortage of intensive care beds in the 11-county Southern California region had triggered the new measures, which take effect on Sunday evening. The region includes the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego and is home to about 24 million people, almost half of the state’s population.  Earlier Saturday, the order was also put in effect for the San Joaquin Valley in central California.  California's San Joaquin Valley region, an area that encompasses 12 counties and the city of Fresno, will impose sweeping stay-at-home restrictions as per Governor Gavin Newsom's orde

Bar owner tears into Gov. Newsom for forcing her to close while a movie crew set up outdoor dining next door as public backlash over California's 'ridiculous' lockdown rules grows

The latest coronavirus lockdown restrictions announced by California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti are getting a strong push back from business owners, mayors, lawmakers, and sheriffs who say banning outdoor dining and closing children’s playgrounds are unnecessary and ‘not supported by science.’ California's Department of Public Health on Saturday announced that the Golden State recorded 25,068 new cases of COVID-19 - a record case count for a 24-hour period since the start of the pandemic. The surging number of cases has prompted the Bay Area, San Joaquin Valley, and Southern California to impose lockdowns. But the mitigation measures are being met with anger from business owners who say they are being unfairly punished.  One bar owner, Angela Marsden, posted a viral video online slamming Garcetti and Newsom for forcing her business, the Pineapple Hill Saloon & Grill in the Sherman Oaks section of Los Angeles, to shut down outdoor dining while allo
