Crown Casino worker sues James Packer for allegedly assaulting him while drunk on New Year's Day and telling him 'I will throw you out of your job'

A former security guard at Crown Towers Melbourne is suing James Packer over an alleged assault on New Year's Day in 2016. Dr Iskandar Chaban failed to recognise the media mogul and senior executive Ishan Ratnam, and tried to block them as they approached the venue's main gaming floor, assuming they were drunk. 'The second defendant Mr became verbally abusive and threatening towards the plaintiff Dr and ran towards the plaintiff, pushing him in the chest,' court documents obtained by the Sydney Morning Herald stated. 'The second defendant then verbally threatened the plaintiff, saying words to the effect 'I will throw you out of your job'. Dr Chaban claimed he was then taken to an office where he was allegedly 'abused, humiliated, intimidated, and bullied' by four of the casino's managers. Heathrow third runway will go ahead: Airport wins Supreme Court challenge after High Court had ruled expansion would be illegal

Heathrow Airport today won a Supreme Court challenge over the Government's decision to give the go-ahead for a third runway. A panel of five justices at the UK's highest court allowed Heathrow to expand by building the controversial third runway after the Court of Appeal declared the plans were unlawful. In February three judges concluded that the expansion failed to take into account the Government's commitments on climate change enshrined in the Paris Agreement.    Heathrow Airport Ltd, which owns and operates the west London airport, challenged that ruling at a two-day hearing before a panel of five justices in October. Giving a summary of the Supreme Court's ruling today, Lord Sales said then-Transport Secretary Chris Grayling's decision was lawful and he was under 'no obligation' to discuss the Paris Agreement separately in the Airports National Policy Statement . Heathrow Airport Ltd called the ruling 'the right result for the country' and woul

Actors' union Equity slams London’s new Tier 3 lockdown as dealing another hammer blow to struggling theatre workers who will face a 'winter in the cold due to a government in chaos'

Actors' union Equity has slammed London's Tier 3 lockdown as dealing another hammer blow to already-struggling theatre workers.  The union's new general secretary, Paul W Fleming, said that performers in London, Essex and Kent face a 'winter in the cold due to a government in chaos'. Out-of-work actors usually find jobs in the hospitality sector while they are in between roles but Tier 3 has firmly ruled that option out.  The union has said that one in five of its members are now claiming Universal Credit because the government support packages 'have excluded so many' and because cannot find alternative employment in hospitality sectors which 'normally provide second jobs for creative workers'.  Actors' union Equity has slammed Tier 3 lockdown as dealing another hammer blow to already-struggling theatre workers The union's new general secretary, Paul W Fleming , said that performers in London, Essex and Kent face a 'winter in the cold due

'There's every chance of getting a deal': Boris Johnson boosts hopes of a Brexit breakthrough in EU trade talks as deadline looms

Boris Johnson last night declared 'there is every opportunity of a deal' as he boosted hopes that a Brexit trade agreement will be struck with the EU. The Prime Minister ditched his warning that No Deal is the most likely outcome as negotiators revealed fishing quotas are the last stumbling block. MPs and peers will rise for the Christmas recess today, but have been told they could be recalled with as little as 48 hours notice to approve a deal if one is agreed. Downing Street said a Commons vote could be held as soon as Monday, although officials have pencilled in the week between Christmas and New Year as more likely. Tyson Foods fires seven top managers at its largest pork plant for BETTING on how many workers would get COVID during outbreak that infected 1,000 employees and killed six

Tyson Foods has fired seven top managers at its largest pork plant after an independent investigation confirmed allegations that they bet on how many workers would test positive for the coronavirus, the company announced Wednesday. The company said the investigation, led by former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, revealed troubling behavior that resulted in the firings at the plant in Waterloo, Iowa.  An outbreak centered around the plant infected more than 1,000 employees, at least six of whom died. 'We value our people and expect everyone on the team, especially our leaders, to operate with integrity and care in everything we do,' Tyson Foods President and CEO Dean Banks said in a statement. 'The behavior exhibited by these individuals does not represent the Tyson core values, which is why we took immediate and appropriate action to get to the truth.' Senators go wild at election 'fraud' hearing as Republican Ron Johnson calls Democrat Gary Peters a 'liar' - and Donald Trump weighs in to attack fired security expert Chris Krebs AGAIN

A hearing overseen by Trump loyalist Sen. Ron Johnson that aired claims of election 'fraud' devolved into a shouting match where the Wisconsin Republican accused his panel's top Democratic of spreading 'Russian disinformation.' Johnson teed off on Michigan Democratic Sen. Gary Peters after fired cybersecurity Christopher Krebs observed that there had been three counts of the vote in Georgia, which he said ruled out foreign interference. 'The outcomes were consistent over and over and over again,' said Krebs, who Trump fired after he called the 2020 election the most security in history. The comment, which came as Trump allies raised unsubstantiated claims about voting machines and the president claims the election was 'rigged,' prompted Johnson to talk about 'Russian disinformation' – which he blamed on Democrats. He brought up a beef with Peters, who had blasted a Johnson report on Hunter Biden 'corruption' issued just weeks before t
