Hundreds of Pfizer vaccine doses are 'RUINED' after fridge storing vials at -70C in GP surgery in Northamptonshire 'failed' forcing clinic to halt vaccinations

Hundreds of doses of the Covid-19 vaccine are believed to have been ruined after a fridge failed at a GP clinic. Harborough Field Surgery in Rushden, Northamptonshire, was storing 975 precious doses of the Pfizer jab, which must be kept at minus 70 degrees. The clinic is acting as a central hub for surgeries in the area to administer the jab to selected over-80s. Some patients received the jab on Wednesday, December 16 but others were due to get it on Thursday and Friday in the clinic, which was opening for 12 hours each day.   But on Thursday, patients who had been expecting to attend appointments were told to stay away because the vaccine was no longer available. It is not clear how many doses were lost.  It comes after former Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt warned the available doses of the Pfizer vaccine will run out in January and another shipment is not due until March, meaning the vaccination programme could grind to a halt. Nine people were killed after an oxygen cylinder exploded on an ICU treating coronavirus patients at a hospital in southern Turkey.  The explosion caused a fire at the privately-run Sanko University Hospital in Gaziantep, 530 miles (850km) southeast of Istanbul today. The victims were aged between 56 and 85 and the fire was quickly brought under control. Police have arrested almost 100 people who allegedly stole almost $10,000 worth of presents in Sydney's CBD and eastern suburbs in the lead up to Christmas. The four-day operation took place across major retail outlets in the Sydney CBD, Surry Hills, Glebe, Ultimo and Bondi from December 15 to December 18.  During the extensive festive season operation, police nabbed 97 alleged offenders, who were charged with 114 offences.
