'Not all heroes wear capes': Cricket fan wearing nothing but his 'tradie' undies is chased by a female security guard for parading a huge 'beer snake'

Hilarious footage has emerged of an underwear-clad cricket fan parading around the stands of a Perth stadium with a giant 'beer snake' in his hand. The clip shows the man - wearing nothing but his sneakers and 'tradie' branded briefs - carrying a precarious stack of finished plastic beers cups.  He is seen carefully trying not to break the towering beer snake as he steps past cheering spectators in the upper stands of Optus Stadium with a female security guard in pursuit. 'The rise and fall of the beer snake warrior,' the footage, taken last Saturday as Perth Scorchers beat Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash league, was captioned on Facebook. 'Hey!', the guard can be heard saying multiple times as she tries to stop him. To the crowd's dismay, the 'snake' breaks while the man manoeuvres through the seats away from security. At one stage, a spectator can be seen handing the man a drink and another cup to add to his tower as the crowd erupts. The

You might NOT be able to get an ambulance: Health chief warns Covid surge could leave patients unable to get help from paramedics with some already facing 10-hour waits

Sick patients in need of an ambulance may not be able to get one at their time of need if pressures on the NHS continue to increase, a leading paramedic has today warned.   Tracy Nicholls, the head of professional body the College of Paramedics, says ambulance services are under 'unprecedented pressure' with handover delays at a scale never seen before. She said some ambulance crews have reported waiting up to ten hours to transfer a patient to hospital staff in areas where there is increased pressure on NHS services.  And in a stark warning, she said there was a 'potential risk' that patients would not be able to access an ambulance if such pressures continue to increase. The caution comes as England's Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty today said hospitals face 'the worst crisis in living memory' as Covid-19 cases continue to soar - with 46,000 medical workers now off sick.    And he warned that Britons who do not take the coronavirus lockdown seriously wi

Nancy Pelosi accuses MAGA mob that stormed US Capitol of 'choosing their whiteness over democracy' as she vows to hold Trump accountable for 'instigating' the riot

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has accused the MAGA mob who laid siege to the US Capitol Building earlier this week of choosing ‘their whiteness over democracy.’ The California Democrat used an online video meeting Saturday with her hometown San Francisco constituents to criticize the overwhelmingly white mob that attacked Congress on Wednesday as it met to formally finalize Joe Biden’s presidential victory over Trump. ‘It has been an epiphany for the world to see that there are people in our country led by this president, for the moment, who have chosen their whiteness over democracy,’ Pelosi said. Pelosi has set the House on course to potentially vote on a new impeachment of Trump as early as this coming week, a move that has overwhelming support from Democrats. She shed no new light Saturday on whether she’s made a final decision on impeachment or any other details. But the House Speaker did add: ‘The complicity, not only the complicity, the instigation of the president of United States

Matt Hancock defends the effectiveness of rapid asymptomatic tests after revealing plans for a mass roll out to people who cannot work at home during lockdown

Health Secretary Matt Hancock has today defended his plans for the mass rollout of rapid Covid-19 testing for people who cannot work at home during the lockdown, after the pilot faced efficacy issues. Asked if the lateral flow rapid turnaround tests being deployed across England were the same as those used in a Liverpool pilot scheme Mr Hancock told the BBC's Andrew Marr Show: 'They're the same lateral flow tests that worked effectively in Liverpool. 'The science is really clear, if you have a test and we find more people who have got the disease we're able to break these chains of transmission. 'The good news about these tests is that they're really easy to administer and you get the result back more or less immediately.' Andrew Marr challenged Mr Hancock over the efficacy of the test, citing an evaluation which said the mass community testing pilot failed to detect 60 per cent of known positive coronavirus cases in Liverpool.
