Trump-backing Lil Wayne will get pardoned but Steve Bannon is 'TBD' and Julian Assange will definitely not get clemency - with self-pardon or pardons for his family 'off the agenda'

President Donald Trump is expected to pardon rapper Lil Wayne in the closing days of his presidency.   Trump will leave the White House Wednesday morning and fly out of Washington before 8 a.m. after issuing around 100 pardons to white collar criminals, high-profile rappers and a jailed Florida eye doctor, according to reports.    Fox News reported Monday that Lil Wayne, who is facing prison time for a 2019 gun charge, would be on the list, while former aide Steve Bannon is 'TBD.'  Wayne prominently backed Trump just before the November election. His name became the most concrete among those expected to receive clemency amid a growing believe that Trump will not pardon himself or family members.  Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, landed at the Miami airport on a private jet, where authorities found a gold-plated gun and drugs in his bag.  Bannon was charged with defrauding Trump supporters who were donating money to help build the president's proposed U.S.-Mexico

Judge stops release of Arkansas 'white nationalist', 60, photographed putting his feet on Speaker Pelosi's desk during the Capitol riot

Richard Barnett will remain in custody A federal judge in Washington on Friday night halted a plan to release and put on house arrest the Arkansas man photographed sitting at a desk in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office during last week's riot at the U.S. Capitol. Richard Barnett will instead be brought to Washington, D.C., immediately for proceedings in his case, Chief U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell ordered Friday night, staying a decision by another judge to confine Barnett to his home in Gravette, Arkansas, until his trial. Howell's ruling came hours after U.S. Magistrate Judge Erin Wiedemann in Arkansas set a $5,000 bond for Barnett and ordered that a GPS monitor track his location. Wiedemann also prohibited Barnett from using the internet or having contact with anyone else who participated in the January 6 violence. Barnett, 60, who has proudly referred to himself as a white nationalist on social media, was among supporters of President Donald Trump who stormed the

PLATELL'S PEOPLE: The BBC's future depends on this Andy Pandy fan

His favourite programmes? Andy Pandy, Tomorrow's World and Fleabag — although it was embarrassing watching the last one with his mum. The future of the Beeb? Unless it sharpens up its act, it risks becoming a 'mouse' that is crushed by the 'elephants' of the digital age. What a refreshing change the next Chairman of the BBC, Richard Sharp, was when he was questioned by MPs this week. It's not just his originality and his easy manner compared with the pompous windbags of old. The former Goldman Sachs partner — who was Chancellor Rishi Sunak's boss at the bank — is also open about BBC impartiality. On the Beeb's flagship current affairs show Question Time and anti-Brexit bias, he was like a breath of fresh air: 'If you ask me if I think Question Time seemed to have more Remainers than Brexiteers, the answer is yes,' he said. Child abuse rose by a quarter during the first national lockdown with more than 285 'serious incidents' reported in just six months

The number of reported incidents involving children who died or were seriously harmed following suspected abuse or neglect rose by a quarter after England entered its first lockdown, shocking new figures show. The Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel received 285 serious incident notifications between April and September last year. This is an increase of 27 per cent from the same period the previous year. Between 2018-19 and 2019-20, numbers had fallen. Local authorities must notify the panel of the death or serious harm of a child in their area if they suspect the child has been abused or neglected. They are also required to inform the Education Secretary and Ofsted if a looked-after child dies, regardless of whether they suspect abuse or neglect. The largest increases were seen among young children, the figures show, with more than a third of the notified incidents (102) involved children under the age of one. The number of reported incidents involving children who died or were s
