Father, 49, is charged with murder after shooting dead his 20-year-old daughter's boyfriend, 21, when he found him hiding in her bedroom after she sneaked him in: Victim's mother says it was down to race

A father has been charged with second degree murder, nearly two years after shooting dead his daughter’s boyfriend when he found him hiding in her bedroom after curfew - as the victim's mother claims the fatal incident was racially motivated. Charles Frederick Heller, 49, is accused of fatally shooting 21-year-old Dustyn Hunt inside his Everett, Washington, home in February 2019, after becoming angry that his daughter Lauryn Heller, then 20, had tried to sneak Hunt into her room for the night. He reportedly armed himself before knocking on his daughter’s bedroom door to confront the couple. A struggle ensued between Mr. Heller and Hunt, and the father pulled the trigger of his semi-automatic handgun, striking Hunt once in the chest. Charles Heller claims he fired the gun in self-defense, believing Hunt was going to choke him, police said. Lauryn Heller, however, argued that Hunt didn’t attack him in any way. Mr. Heller was charged Monday in Snohomish County Superior Court with seco

Man, 60, wrongly arrested in 2019 for 30-year-old cold case murder of young girl SUES cops claiming they were fame-hungry 'media hounds' who manipulated DNA evidence to frame him, as he says accusation left him unemployed and homeless

A man who was wrongfully arrested in 2019 for the 1988 murder of a 10-year-old girl is suing the police officers who arrested him, claiming they were fame-hungry and framed him to crack the cold case. On Tuesday Joao 'John' Monteiro, 60, filed a lawsuit in Rhode Island District Court claiming he was wrongfully accused, framed and arrested for the murder of Christine Cole.  Cole was just 10 when she disappeared in January 1988 outside a market on Slater Street in Pawtucket. Her body was found on a beach in Warwick 54 days later.   Monteiro was arrested in July 2019 by Pawtucket police with officials saying a breakthrough in DNA technology connected him to the crime and he lived in the apartment above the market where Cole was last seen. However, just seven months later the charges were dropped because the DNA evidence was too broad and did not specifically point to Monteiro as the killer.  On Tuesday Joao 'John' Monteiro, 60, filed a lawsuit in US District Court claimin
