A violent thug has been jailed for life for attacking a man after a party so viciously he was left in a vegetative state for 12 years before his death. Drunken Mark Cranfield jumped on Alec Driver's head with both feet after knocking him to the floor and booting him in the face after a house party in February 2007. Tragically, Mr Driver was left in a vegetative state until his death in April 2019 aged 41. Cranfield, now 38, was jailed at Preston Crown Court on Friday after pleading guilty to murder. He had previously been spent 14 years in jail for attempted murder. Mr Driver was at a party at his partner's flat in Horsebridge Road, Blackpool, Lancs, on the night he was attacked. Trump turned on Capitol mob because they 'looked like idiots' and thought they were DEMOCRATS - while Ivanka downplayed riot as an 'optics issue' while telling aides about her kids' places in private school, book claims

In the aftermath of violence that rocked the nation's capital, hours after hundreds demonstrators attacked the U.S. Capitol, and as his power slipped away, President Trump turned on his supporters. 'This looks terrible. This is really bad,' he told an aide by telephone after watching television coverage of his fans ransacking the Capitol and as his small team tried to work out a survival strategy. 'These aren’t our people, these idiots with these outfits. 'They look like Democrats.' The smell of marijuana hung over clumps of protesters, many of whom had dressed for the occasion - some in camouflage gear, some in jackets made from flags, one as Abraham Lincoln and, in images that came to define the protests, another in a horned headdress. A new book details how Trump responded to unfolding events on Jan. 6, when Vice President Mike Pence refused to follow his orders in overturning election results, and a mob of Trump supporters attacked police officers and storme

US launches airstrikes on three facilities used by Iran-backed militia groups in Syria and Iraq in response to drone attacks on American personnel and bases

The United States has launched what it says are defensive airstrikes against Iran-backed militias along the Iraq-Syria border. Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said the 'precision' strikes had been launched at the behest of President Biden on Sunday evening. Two targets were attacked in Syria, with a third also bombed in Iraq. Kirby added that multiple Iran-backed milita groups including Kata'ib Hezbollah and Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada had been targeted. US Air Force F-15 and F-16 jets were used to carry out the strikes, and returned to base without incident afterwards.   Kirby said the targets had been chosen because they had previously launched drone strikes against US personnel and bases in Iraq using rudimentary unmanned aerial vehicles.    It is unclear if anyone was injured or killed in those strikes, although a military source told Fox News 'many casualties' were expected, because the strike took place at a time of day when the targets were particular

The morning after... empty liquor bottles, beer cans, and pizza boxes are seen littered across Washington Square Park following another weekend of fights, arrests and revelry

The scene at Washington Square Park on Monday morning was filthy following another weekend of assaults, arrests and revelry, after New York City's Pride celebrations were marred by fighting and skirmishes with police, who used pepper spray to regain control of the growing crowds Sunday evening.  Fallen Pride flags, empty liquor bottles and beer cans, and pizza boxes were among the trash that had been strewn about the iconic Lower Manhattan park amidst the weekend's festivities, which saw thousands of people descend upon Washington Square Park while partying well past the park's midnight curfew. Meanwhile, public trash cans were overflowing with garbage as of Monday, with detritus scattered throughout the park, as well-heeled local residents in Greenwich Village continue to complain of ongoing rowdiness in the area.  A smattering of park-going partiers still remained as of Monday morning, congregating together amongst the trash heaps that were littered about the park, while
