Biden says 'lives will be lost' because of unvaccinated Americans catching and spreading the Indian Delta variant but is NOT concerned July 4 parties will cause a 'major outbreak'

President Biden admitted that more lives will be lost to the Delta variant of COVID-19, even as he encouraged Americans to enjoy their Fourth of July holiday weekend. Delivering an optimistic message at the White House on positive jobs numbers, he struck an uneasy balance as he warned of more COVID deaths ahead but played down worries that the Delta variant would turn back the clock to the worst days of the pandemic. 'I am concerned that people who have not gotten vaccinated have the capacity to catch the variant and spread the variant to other people who have not been vaccinated,' he said. 'I am not concerned there's going to be a major outbreak, in other words that we're going to have another major epidemic nationwide, but I am concerned that lives will be lost.' Conservatives slam Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett for siding with liberals and declining to hear appeal of Southern Baptist florist who refused to sell flowers to a gay couple for their wedding

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to hear an appeal by a florist fined by Washington state for refusing to make a flower arrangement for a same-sex wedding because of her Christian beliefs, dodging another major case pitting gay rights against religious liberty. The justices turned away an appeal by Barronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene's Flowers in the city of Richland, after a lower court upheld Washington's action.  The court offered no explanation of its decision but three of the court's conservative judges - Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Neil Gorsuch - said they would have heard the case. Conservatives turned on Trump appointees Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett for siding with liberals on the court. 'This is a disgrace. Kavanaugh and Barrett deserve derision and criticism for this,' said Ryan Williams, president of the Claremont Institute. Conservatives turned their fire on Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh after it emerged they

Spoils of war: 1943 Red Sands sea fort that blasted Nazi 'doodlebugs' out of the sky is set to become a museum... after years of being raided by looters

It was built in the Thames Estuary in 1943 to protect London and Allied shipping from devastating German bombing raids in the Second World War. Although the Red Sands sea fort has since been hammered by the passage of time and pilfered by vandals, its seven structures - which were once connected by walkways - still tower above the waves seven miles off the coast of Whitstable. Now, thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers, the fort is being faithfully restored and turned into a heritage museum which will tell its incredible role in keeping Britain safe from Nazi attacks. In a new documentary on streaming platform History Hit, historian Dan Snow is seen touring the towers which make up the fort. He also speaks to David Foulkes, who is part of the restoration team at Project Redsand. By 1944, there were 220 men stationed on the fort, with accommodation based on a 'hot bed' system where soldiers would alternate between sleeping and being on duty. In total, 22 German planes and 30

Hundreds of Princess Diana fans line up for first glimpse of her new statue with some saying she 'looks beautiful' - while others feel 'it doesn't look like her'

But members of the public gave it a mixed reaction, with some saying she 'looks beautiful' while others thought 'it doesn't look like her'.  The eight-foot sculpture - showing her with three ethnically diverse children - was unveiled yesterday by Princes William and Harry to commemorate her work around the world. It is the focal point of the Palace's newly re-landscaped Sunken Garden, which has been filled with the Princess' favourite forget-me-not flowers. Today, eager members of the public began queuing outside the gates two-hour before they were allowed in at 10am to catch their first glimpse of the statue. more videos Councillor climbs neighbour's fence to scream at him in land dispute Water pours through condo basement moments before collapse Diver cuts free sperm whale after it got tied up in ropes Dog rings home doorbell at 3AM a
