Three dead, seven wounded in a series of shootings as Indianapolis city leaders voted to spend more than $3M to reduce violent crime

Six shootings took place in Indianapolis, Indiana, starting Monday into early Tuesday, leaving three dead and seven injured in the span of eight hours.  The first death was reported in the 5800 block of Suburban Drive, where the Indianapolis Metro Police Department found a man shot at 8:14 p.m. on Monday. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition and he died shortly after arrival.  The other two deaths were reported at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday, as police believe a murder-suicide took place in the 8200 block of Gilmore Road.   Another shooting hours earlier left four people in critical condition and came after the city pledged more than $3 million to address violent crime and mental health. Officials on the Isles of Scilly have built a 'safe space' for Wally The Walrus - a pontoon where he can relax undisturbed and cause less trouble. Locals are also being advised to gently push the arctic walrus away from their vessels with an oar if he approaches. It's hoped the advice and the newly constructed pontoon will encourage him to feel safe - and decrease his 'vandalism'. Italian fans claim Prince William snubbed Italy's president by refusing to congratulate him after their Euros victory - despite video showing the Duke being blocked from reaching him in Wembley royal box

Italian football fans have spread bogus claims that Prince William snubbed their President at Wembley by not congratulating him on winning the match. Angry fans slammed the royal for not immdediately walking over to shake President Sergio Mattarella's hand in the royal box when the game ended.   It came after footage of the Duke of Cambridge was published in the Italian press showing the British royal looking over to the President in the moments following their pentalty shoot out victory. It is not clear if the Duke was trying to make his way over to the President, but in the clip he appears to be intercepted and distracted by another individual before he has the chance. Two women have been taken to hospital after the ceiling collapsed inside a popular JD Wetherspoon pub.  Customers were evacuated from The Waterhouse in Manchester city centre after debris dropped from the ceiling at around 8.45pm on Monday.   Four people were assessed at the scene by a fire service trauma technician and paramedics. Two women were taken to hospital for precautionary checks by North West Ambulance Service, authorities said.  Greater Manchester Police has since confirmed that nobody was seriously injured. 'Together we will never lose': ITV shares a message of support following racist abuse aimed at Three Lions players on social media

ITV has shared a message of support after members of the England side suffered racist abuse on social media following their Euro 2020 final loss to Italy. The broadcaster featured a black and white photo of the team taking the knee across its social media accounts and took out ads in national newspapers on Tuesday. The image was captioned with the words: 'Together we will never lose. ITV Stand with England.' It was in response to abusive posts directed at Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka in the wake of their missed penalties in the decisive shoot-out at Wembley on Sunday. People in England have admitted they are unwilling to enjoy the freedoms set to be restored next week, as new polling shows four in 10 adults support compulsory face masks in public indefinitely while a third of workers say they are 'uncomfortable' with returning to the office.  A survey conducted by Ipsos Mori found that a quarter of people would like nightclubs and casinos to remain shut after the pandemic, while nearly a fifth support a permanent 10pm curfew. Around a third of the 1,025 adults aged 16-75 interviewed on July 2 and 3 also said they would support permanent social distancing in theatres, pubs and sports grounds, while 35 per cent said they would support mandatory 10-day quarantines for people returning from abroad forever.
