Police arrest man over the unsolved 1999 murder of Victoria Hall, 17, whose naked body was found in a ditch five days after she vanished while walking home from a nightclub

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of the murder of a 17-year-old girl who went missing on her way home from a nightclub in 1999. Victoria Hall was strangled and her body was discovered in a water-filled ditch on September 24 1999, five days after she was last seen alive.  Suffolk Police reopened their investigation in 2019 after receiving fresh witness information, which they would not expand upon. Victoria, or Vicky, from Trimley St Mary, left home on the evening of September 18 1999 for a night out with a friend at the Bandbox nightclub in Felixstowe. The girls left the club at around 1am the following morning and parted ways at around 2.20am, yards from Victoria's home. That was the last time she was seen alive. Thanks dad! Hypocrite Newsom pulls his ten-year-old son out of maskless basketball camp to save face after imposing school mask mandate

California Governor Gavin Newsom has been dubbed a COVID hypocrite again after enforcing a mask mandate for kids in schools while allowing his own son and daughter to attend a basketball camp which doesn't enforce face coverings.   Newsom introduced a statewide mask mandate on July 9 for kids at schools that means all teachers and students must wear masks indoors. It is being widely criticized by parents who say they should decide if their kid wears a mask or not, and two advocacy groups have already filed a lawsuit against the state to fight it.  On Monday, a photo of Newsom's 10-year-old son Hunter and a group of other kids appeared on the Facebook page of his $200-a-week summer basketball day camp in which none of them were wearing masks.  The camp does not enforce masks, but it says kids and staff are welcome to wear one if they wish to. Anti-lockdown campaigners said it proved Newsom's hypocrisy that his kids could go maskless while others were to be forced to wear the

Keith Raniere's longtime lover Lauren Salzman, 45, AVOIDS jailtime despite admitting to recruiting sex slaves for the NXIVM cult and keeping a woman locked up in a room for TWO YEARS

Lauren Salzman has avoided jail time for her role in recruiting slaves for the NXIVM sex cult. Salzman, 45, was facing nine years behind bars after pleading guilty to charges of racketeering and conspiracy, but on Wednesday US District Judge Nicholas Garaufis instead sentenced her to five years probation.  He took mercy on Salzman, noting that she had delivered testimony against NXIVM co-founder Keith Raniere that 'substantially contributed' to his prosecution.  Last year, Raniere was sentenced to 120 years in jail for a slew of crimes, including sex and human trafficking.  Salzman escaped serving time despite the fact she confessed to locking one young woman in a room for two years in order to fulfill her duties in the sex cult.  She appeared relieved by the fact she would be walking free from court, but sobbed remorsefully: 'It kills me that I hurt people that I loved so much. '  Salzman first met Keith Raniere more than two decades ago after her own mother, Nancy, co

PIERS MORGAN: Sorry Simone Biles, but there’s nothing heroic or brave about quitting because you’re not having ‘fun’ – you let down your team-mates, your fans and your country

Simone Biles has her own leotard line. She designed it herself to inspire other athletes all over the world - and sells them through GK Elite Sportswear for up to $390 a piece. Biles proudly wore several leotards from her own collection at last month's US Gymnastics Championships; one white and lilac, the other black. But they had an extra detail not available to the public – a rhinestone symbol of a goat, on the shoulder of her white leotard and the hip of the black one. Biles didn't choose a goat to personify her brand because they're her favourite animal. She chose it because in sporting terms, it stands for G.O.A.T. or Greatest Of All Time. 'I want kids to learn that, yes, it's okay to acknowledge that you're good or even great at something,' Biles explained, when asked about it. And I have no problem with that. Simone Biles was due to take part in all four parts of the women's team final gymnastics competition. She was the leader of the team, and in

'Cult-like' woman, 36, pleads not guilty in the murder of her two daughters, ages 9 and 7, whose bodies were found floating in Florida canal in June

A 36-year-old South Florida woman who neighbors describe as 'cult-like' pleaded not guilty to two counts of premeditated murder on Tuesday, weeks after the bodies of her two young daughters were found in a canal.  Tinessa Hogan did not appear in court; instead, attorney Erin Veit issued the plea. Tinessa Hogan, 36, was arrested Tuesday night on two counts of first-degree murder 'I am God! I am the devil!', neighbors said they heard Hogan yelling the day before the bodies of Destiny Hogan, 9, and Daysha Hogan, 7, were found near the family's home in Lauderhill on June 22. The 36-year-old was arrested and charged on June 22 with two counts of first-degree murder, news outlets reported. Veit could not be reached for comment regarding grounds for the plea.  Residents in the area, which is near the city of Fort Lauderdale, told investigators that Hogan had offered to baptize people's children in the canal a day before the girls' bodies were found, police said las

FBI raids five Florida properties as part of investigation into assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse: Homes and offices of two businessmen implicated in plot are searched

Federal agents raided five South Florida locations on Tuesday while serving warrants in an investigation into the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse.  The search warrants included the homes and offices of Antonio Intriago and Walter Veintemilla - two businessmen whom officials in Haiti suspect funded and trained those who have been implicated in the assassination, the Miami Herald reported. Helicopter footage from WPLG shows FBI agents and investigators with Homeland Security searching for financial records and other documents at the home of Veintemilla - president of Worldwide Capital Lending Group.   Moïse, 53, was assassinated on July 7 by a hit squad made up mostly of Colombian mercenaries but many details surrounding the brazen attack have remained a mystery - as the country has erupted into political fights and gun violence.  Federal agents raided five South Florida locations on Tuesday while serving warrants in an investigation into the assassination of Haitian Pre
