Nancy Pelosi calls Republican leader Kevin McCarthy a 'moron' for saying he would opposing new guidelines on vaccinated Americans wearing masks

Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday called House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy a 'moron' for opposing new guidelines requiring fully-vaccinated people in certain areas to wear face masks. Pelosi was defending new face mask requirements in the House - where fully-vaccinated people will be required to wear masks in accordance with new CDC guidance - when she was asked about comments from McCarthy.  Getting into her SUV, Pelosi was heard muttering of him: 'He's such a moron.' McCarthy claimed the new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on face masks were not 'based on science' but from 'liberal government officials.' 'Make no mistake - the threat of bringing masks back is not a decision based on science, but a decision conjured up by liberal government officials who want to continue to live in a perpetual pandemic state,' McCarthy wrote on Twitter Tuesday. That is when she fired off her insult, the latest strike between the

Paradise lost: Bali's beaches are empty with hospitals at breaking point and suffering oxygen shortages due to Covid - as Aussies living on the resort island say locals are desperate for tourists to return

Two Australians who have long called Bali home have revealed how the island paradise is at breaking point due to Covid-19. Chef Dean Keddell and Margaret Barry, who runs the Bali Children Foundation, both fear the nation may never fully recover from the pandemic. Tourism numbers are at an all-time low, beaches and bars remain deserted and the usually bustling streets in places such as Kuta and Legian look like ghost towns.   The sad development comes as Indonesia reports more than 1,000 Covid cases each day and more than 86,000 deaths since the pandemic started in 2020. Overcrowded hospitals are also struggling to cope with the surging flood of patients infected with Covid, and much needed oxygen is in limited supply. Beaches in Bali are closed due to the pandemic, as Covid threatens to destroy the island paradise (pictured, Seminyak on July 18) The usually bustling streets in Legian and Kuta have become ghost towns, with case numbers and deaths rising daily Keddell is trying to sta

Leap of faith: Heart-in-mouth moment tiny ducklings jump off a waterfall to keep up with their mother

This is the moment a group of young ducklings bravely followed their mother down a dangerous looking waterfall.   In footage, recorded in Romania on June 24, onlookers can be heard gasping as the 10 tiny birds prepare to leap over the edge to the water below.  But they react with cheers as all the ducklings make it safely down and return to their mother. In the minute-long video, the group can be clearly seen peering over the edge of a waterfall that is small by human standards but many times  taller than the mother bird. Chirping with excitement, or perhaps alarm, the ducklings scuttle around to see if there's another route down to their mother.  They pause for approximately ten seconds as they prepare to make the biggest jump of their young lives. The heart-stopping clip, that shows the raft of 10 ducklings taking a literal leap of faith, was recorded near a small waterfall in Romania With no alternative in sight, the first pair of ducklings take the leap, and more follow.  The

Moment e-scooter rider goes flying into the water when he tries to ride along flooded East End street

This is the moment a man riding an e-scooter decided to ride through a flooded London street, but ended up getting a soaking.  Musician Karl Williams, 34, filmed the incident in the East End on July 25 as the capital was hit by record rainfall, with homes, Tube stations and roads deluged.  He had diverted off his usual route to work near West Ham station to avoid flooding when he spotted the scooter rider braving the deep waters. In the footage, which Mr Williams' shared to his Instagram account, the musician shows the flooded street as he drives along it.  Williams captions the video: 'Keep watching until the end.'   A few seconds later he notices the e-scooter rider slowly making his way along the pavement towards a deep-looking section of water. After he ventures into the water he initially makes good progress until he apparently hits an obstacle. The scooter suddenly stops and tips the rider into the water, to Mr Williams' evident amusement.  Karl Williams filmed
