'Provincetown is not our future': Columnist Andrew Sullivan says COVID outbreak in town where he lives that triggered CDC mask U-turn was sparked by wild July 4 indoor parties: Officials say town is now back to normal thanks to vaccines

A famed conservative columnist who lives at the epicenter of the United States' latest Delta COVID cluster said of the virus 'Let it rip' after seeing how mild his vaccinated friends' symptoms were.  Writer Andrew Sullivan says the COVID-19 outbreak in Provincetown, Massachusetts, that infected around 900 people and triggered CDC's mask U-turn was sparked by wild July 4 indoor parties following Pride Week.  This outbreak was behind the CDC's sudden backpedal on mask recommendations for vaccinated Americans to wear masks in indoor places in COVID hot spots.   But now Sullivan says first-hand experience of his friends' illnesses showed that the Indian Delta variant poses little risk to vaccinated people - and called for restrictions to be lifted once and for all. Writing his his popular blog, he said: 'Take the rational precautions - a solid vaccine - and go about your business as you always did,' Sullivan wrote.  'We are at a stage in this pandemi

Has Jeff Bezos had a space-lift? Experts say billionaire's dramatically plumped-up lips and smooth, tight cheeks are clear signs that he had cosmetic surgery before blasting into orbit on Amazon's Blue Origin rocket

Jeff Bezos's dramatically plumped-up lips and super-smooth, tight cheeks have sparked rumors he has had cosmetic surgery.  The wealthiest person in the world appeared different - mostly puffier - in recent photos and video taken before and after his $5.5billion joyride to space earlier this month.  It's unknown if Bezos, 57, has undergone any cosmetic surgery. He hasn't said anything publicly, and there's been no official statements from Amazon or his media relations team.  Nevertheless, it's caught the interest of some, including Dr. Corey L. Hartman, a dermatologist in Birmingham, Alabama, who told the Daily Beast, 'How can you not be obsessed with how Bezos ? It's such a drastic change.'  'He's an easy target,' Dr. Hartman told the Daily Beast. 'Clearly he does not care because to me it looks like to me that he went and got his very obvious filler and injectables done right before he burst into the spotlight with this trip into space.&

Miracle drug is 'life saving' against Covid and will stop sufferers needing hospital treatment, GPs claim

GPS and MPs have hailed a 'life saving' miracle drug being used to treat Covid. The steroid Dexamethasone is increasingly prescribed to at-home Covid patients to prevent them from needing hospital treatment. MPs last night called on the health service to look into more at-home use of the drug to further cut cases of serious illness from Covid. The steroid, which reduces the amount of damage in the lungs, has been mostly used in hospital, reducing patients' need for ventilators.  MPs last night called on NHS England to look into more at-home use of the steroid Dexamethasone to further cut cases of serious illness from Covid (stock image) A study by NHS England earlier this year estimated that the steroid has saved at least 22,000 lives in the UK and a million globally. It has been hailed as proof that combined with vaccines, improved treatment means it no longer poses the same threat. One GP prescribing it for at-home use said: 'This is saving lives. It works – and it ma

End of furlough will mean thousands of job losses as one firm in five plans to shed employees

One firm in five plans to shed jobs after today's latest cut in the Government's furlough aid. The support is slowly being made less generous, with the Treasury ending the scheme by October. From today, Government support for a furlough wage will be cut to 60 per cent from 70 per cent, with employers now having to foot 20 per cent of furlough pay, instead of the ten per cent expected in July. One firm in five plans to shed jobs after today's latest cut in the Government's furlough aid  A poll of 250 businesses with employees still on furlough found that 18 per cent said they were likely to make staff redundant. This will lead to thousands of job losses, said the British Chamber of Commerce , which carried out the survey. A quarter of firms said they would aim to reduce hours or move staff to part-time working. Official data shows that 1.9 million people were still furloughed at the end of June, a reduction from 2.4 million a month earlier. BCC spokeswoman Jane Gratton s

British foreign affairs think tank is accused of wokery after it gives awards to climate activist Greta Thunberg and co-founder of the Los Angeles chapter of Black Lives Matter

Britain's most prestigious foreign affairs think-tank was last night accused of becoming the latest institution in thrall to ‘woke culture’ after giving awards to a Black Lives Matter leader and Greta Thunberg. Chatham House, also known as the Royal Institute of International Affairs, has made three Centenary Awards ‘recognising outstanding contributions to confronting the critical challenges facing the world today’. The Centenary Changemakers Award went to Ms Thunberg, 18, the Swedish activist challenging world leaders to avert climate change, while the Centenary Diversity Champion Award went to Melina Abdullah, co-founder of the Los Angeles chapter of Black Lives Matter. The movement was formed to protest against police brutality and violence against black people, but critics say it has led to the silencing of free speech, with academics hesitant to talk about restricted freedoms in case its followers target them. The institute said the award recognised ‘the momentous work Black

REVEALED: Secretive cell of Civil Servants Government ministers blame for the Covid pingdemic

A secretive ‘cell’ of civil servants is being blamed by Ministers for blocking moves to speed up Britain’s exit from all Covid restrictions – including the early end of quarantine for the double-jabbed. The Covid-19 Task Force, which is run out of the Cabinet Office, sits in on meetings held by Ministers, and then offers ‘advice’ on the implementation of measures which have been agreed. But one Cabinet Minister told The Mail on Sunday the group had been a ‘huge pain in the a***’ with ‘a series of Sir Humphrey-style frustrations’ – a reference to the smooth mandarin in the BBC’s Yes Minister series who would endlessly outfox politicians. Andy Helliwell, a career civil servant who makes his personal views clear on his Twitter page, proclaiming his support for gender-neutral language and his criticism of Britain’s colonial legacy Ministers say that the group has increasingly flexed its muscles, including stopping an attempt to end isolation rules early It includes operations director An
