Revealed: EIGHT Test and Trace bosses are earning more than the Prime Minister with some raking in up to £240,000-A-YEAR despite £37billion system failing to meet key targets

New data shows eight bosses working at NHS Test and Trace are earning more than the Prime Minister despite prolonged criticism and concern over the system's success. The Covid contact tracing system has faced a barrage of criticism since its inception last May, but shocking new data reveals its highest paid staff are paid almost £250,000-a-year. The news comes amid concerns over the effectiveness of the £37 billion Test and Trace organisation - which failed to hit a number of its key targets according to a recent report. New data from the first quarter of the 2021/22 financial year indicate that eight of the 10 most lucrative salaries at the Department of Health and Social Care belonged to the much-maligned NHS Test and Trace team. The majority of its highest paid staff come from the retail industry, including former supermarket chiefs, motor industry specialists and a BT boss. The Telegraph reports most Test and Trace bosses are paid in excess of £200,000-a- year, a sizeable chunk

Transfers set to unleash new airport chaos: Ministers will allow travellers to pass through airport hubs in red-list countries without having to stay in hotel quarantine on arrival to UK

Ministers are set to allow quarantine-free travel to families, holidaymakers and businessmen coming through red list destinations if they remain airside by easing Britain's travel ban on airport hubs, in a move likely to unleash new airport chaos. At a crunch meeting this week, ministers are set to agree a plan to allow travellers to pass through the red list hubs of the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Bahrain without having to quarantine in a hotel on arrival in the UK for 10 days at a cost of £1,750. Travellers would be quarantine-free provided they remained airside on transit through the airports, in a major boon for the devastated travel and hospitality sectors, as well as the holiday hopes of millions of people this summer. Though the UAE, Turkey, Qatar and Bahrain are on the red list amid concerns they could act as focal points for the spread of Covid variants, ministers are preparing to exemption travellers who do not enter the countries and instead transit and remain airsi

The delivery driver had 'no idea what he was doing' but had to help 30-year-old Khan Shoker, whose waters had broken near the front door of the house in Waterlooville, Hampshire.  The new mother's husband, Schar Shoker, got back from a trip to the shops just in time for his baby daughter Bella's arrival with Mr Ryan relaying instructions from a midwife on the phone.  After helping deliver the baby and paramedics had arrived to take over, Mr Ryan said he was so 'shaken' by that morning's events he missed some of his afternoon slots.  Perry Ryan, 29, was delivering a Hermes package when he heard Khan Shoker in labour at home in Waterlooville, Hampshire (Pictured: Mr Ryan holding Bella, the baby he helped to deliver) Recounting

Chaos over true daily COVID deaths figure: Florida and Delaware skew Johns Hopkins' stats with massive data dump taking total up by 300% - but true figure is significantly lower

A massive data dump by Florida and Delaware has skewed the daily COVID-19 death figures compiled by the widely-respected Johns Hopkins University and made it appear that they jumped by 300 percent Friday. The figure trebled from 321 on Thursday to 891 on Friday raising fears that the more highly contagious Delta variant is now translating into spiraling fatalities nationwide.   Florida made up almost half of the daily tally, with 409 of the deaths recorded coming from the Sunshine State.  The state only reports its COVID-19 figures once a week on a Friday, meaning all deaths over the last seven days are added to the total in one lump sum and that the real daily change in the last 24 hours remains unknown.  Florida reported 108 deaths from COVID-19 on Saturday - just eight days after it reported 148 deaths.  Delaware also played a major part in sending the figures skyrocketing, as officials announced 130 new deaths Friday. However, these deaths occurred between mid-May 2020 and late Jun

Mullet-sporting Aussie sprint star Rohan Browning narrowly misses out on a spot in the 100m final in gutsy Olympic semi and reveals his crucial mistake during race

Mullet-sporting Aussie sprint star Rohan Browning has narrowly missed out on a spot in the Olympic final of the 100m dash after a gutsy semi-final race.  Twenty-four hours after winning his opening-round heat in a sizzling 10.01 seconds, the 23-year-old law student finished fifth in his semi in 10.09.    Browning didn't quite get the drive he needed off the blocks and despite a gutsy final 50m was unable to finish fast enough to qualify for the final. The top two runners from each race automatically qualify for the finals, with the last two spots going to the quickest two of the three men who finish third in each heat.  The last Australian sprinter to make it to an Olympic 100m final was Hec Hogan, who took home the bronze medal from the 1956 Melbourne Games. China's Su Bingtian was the fastest qualifier for the final later on Monday night in an Asian record of 9.83.
