Lone outpost still holding out against the Taliban: Afghan vice president and the son of a dead legendary military commander rally forces in Panjshir less than 100 miles from Kabul

Afghanistan's vice president and the son of a dead military commander are rallying anti-taliban forces in the last stronghold less than 100 miles from Kabul. Vice President Amrullah Saleh and Ahmad Massoud, the son of his former mentor and famed anti-Taliban fighter Ahmed Shah Massoud, are putting together a guerilla movement in the Panjshir Valley - the only region not controlled by the Taliban.  It comes after the Taliban swept to power with a lightning conquest of Afghanistan culminating on Sunday when the group overran the capital Kabul, sparking widespread panic as thousands tried to flee.  Saleh said on Tuesday he was in Afghanistan and the 'legitimate caretaker president' after President Ashraf Ghani fled the country as it emerged he was massing troops and planning a counter offensive against the Taliban.  Footage that emerged on Tuesday showed Massoud, accompanied by a heavily armed entourage, boarding an Afghan air force Mi-17, a Soviet designed military helicopte

'Off-guard' Foreign Secretary's Greek idyll: The luxury Crete hotel where Dominic Raab 'was staying as Taliban went on the rampage in Afghanistan'

It styles itself as a ‘sparkling boutique resort for the privileged and perceptive’. But after Dominic Raab admitted being ‘caught off-guard’ by the Taliban rampage, the luxury Crete hotel where he apparently stayed last week may wish to rethink the final word of its boast. Mr Raab was spotted on Sunday at the five-star Amirandes Hotel, just before he jetted back into Britain to help deal with what has been described as the biggest foreign policy disaster since Suez.  The Foreign Secretary yesterday conceded he would not have left the UK had he known what would unfold in Afghanistan. Mr Raab was spotted on Sunday at the five-star Amirandes Hotel in Crete  But he insisted that he did not spend ‘all day lounging on the beach’ as militants swept through Kabul.  He said that he took part in a series of meetings from his hotel and only went outside to see his family ‘episodically’. The Amirandes, which is situated on its own private beach, says it has ‘a first-class dining scene and one of

Biden administration plans to extend the mask mandates on trains, planes and buses by FOUR MONTHS until January 18

The Biden administration will reportedly extend the mask requirement for air, train and bus travel until at least January 18. The current Transportation Security Administration order expires four months earlier, on Sept. 13. Major US airlines were informed of the change by TSA and the Centers for Disease Control in a call on Tuesday, three sources told Reuters. The current mandate went into effect last January, shortly after President Biden took office and required masks on nearly all forms of public transportation. In addition to planes, trains and buses, that included subways, taxis, rideshares and in transportation terminals. Under Donald Trump, who was president until Jan. 20, a CDC push to mandate masks in transit was blocked and the agency instead only issued strong recommendations for mask use. Trump also rejected efforts by Congress to mandate mask use.  The Biden administration will reportedly extend the mask requirement for air, train and bus travel until at least January 1

Terrifying moment giant python is spotted hiding in the shelves of a Woolworths aisle

Video uploaded to Facebook on Monday shows the curious python poke its head out of the herbs and spices shelf at Glenorie Woolworths.  A shocked customer captured the stomach-churning footage and sent it to their friend who joked they had spotted a Covid-19 rule breaker.  'Local Glenorie Woolworths had a Lockdown offender today. No QR check in and no mask,' the woman wrote alongside the video. To shopper's relief a snake expert happened to be present and safely removed the unwelcome guest.    Stomach-churning footage shows the moment giant python emerges from a Woolworths supermarket shelf in Glenorie, NSW 'Lucky there was a lovely person who was very familiar with this type of species and safely looked after the good looking culprit, phew, a good outcome,' the post read. Jen Psaki says Joe and Jill Biden will 'follow the guidelines' if Americans require booster shots - and says the US has enough for supply for the entire eligible population

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday that President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden will get a third COVID-19 vaccine dose if that's what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention prescribes.  'Certainly if they are recommended, once a formal announcement or briefing is done, they will certainly plan to follow the guidelines,' Psaki said.  On Wednesday, Biden's COVID team is holding a briefing, with U.S. health authorities expected to announce that Americans should receive a third shot of vaccine eight months after their second shot, according to two people who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. Psaki was asked Tuesday if Americans should be getting third doses when global vaccination rates still aren't very high.  She called that a 'false choice.'  'We can do both,' Psaki said. 'And the United States is far and away the biggest contributor to the global supply, the gl

'Their sacrifice was for naught': Army Colonel whose son was killed in Afghanistan slams Biden for abandoning the country as Gold Star mothers share their pain over the decision and ask 'why did we even bother?'

A group of parents - including two Gold Star moms - who lost their sons in Afghanistan have shared their anger and anguish after the Taliban retook the country in the wake of Joe Biden's withdrawal. Retired Army Colonel Dave Brostrom, who lost his son, Jonathan, in 2008, is blaming President Joe Biden for abandoning Afghanistan and leaving the country in disarray. He said: 'It's a disgrace to this country to depart like this.' Jill Stephenson, whose only child, Army Ranger Ben Kopp, died in July 2009 while fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan said the the militant group's takeover of Kabul this weekend came as a gut punch. She worries that many Americans will now lose sight of the service of the nearly 2,500 members of the U.S. military killed during the 20-year conflict. 'I hope their sacrifice doesn't get forgotten,' said Stephenson. 'Here we are 20 years later, and so you do question why did we even bother?'  Another mother, Jean Durgin, echoed

Grieving families are being turned away from graveyards as they try to pay their respect the dead relatives – because it’s not essential

Grieving families are being turned away from graveyards during Sydney's lockdown because paying respect to a dead relative is not considered an essential reason to leave home. Rookwood Cemetery in the city's west closed last week after confirmation from NSW Health that visiting a grave was 'not a reasonable excuse to leave home'. Funerals of up to 10 people are still allowed in the cemetery, but private security guards are now turning mourners away if they are only there to visit a loved one. Local Angelique Jasli said the rule made little sense as residents could still walk through the graveyard for exercise. Rookwood Cemetery, in Lidcombe, in the city's west was closed to visitors last week after NSW Police declared that visiting the grave of a loved one would not be considered an essential reason to leave home Ms Jasli has set up a petition calling for authorities to reverse their decision to ban graveyard visits. 'There is a lot of grief people are dealing w

Anti-vaxxer linked to Capitol riot yanked mask off journalist and 'swung his thermos at her' during melee with Antifa members at LA protest

An outspoken critic of forced vaccines and mask mandates, who bragged about attending the January 6 riot at the Capitol, is seen in a video yanking a reporter's face covering off during a Saturday melee involving Proud Boys and Antifa members. Tony Moon - aka 'RoofKorean7' on Twitter, who has been outspoken about his Trump-supporting ideologies and described himself as a '2021 Antifa Hunter' in his Twitter bio - has been a vocal leader against the 'draconian' LA lockdowns, and vaccine and mask mandates.   He was seen and heard yelling in videos, 'Unmask them. Unmask them all.'  In a phone interview with DailyMail.com, Moon trotted out a conspiracy theory against the decades-long journalist, saying she 'is not a reporter.' 'They're lieutenants directing foot soldiers. They have comms in their helmet,' Moon told DailyMail.com  'I was trying to get her away because she was antagonizing. I pulled off her mask to expose her. It'
