The BBC cheered on Saturday night as their £20 million show The Voice UK enjoyed 200,000 more viewers than the series opener.
The talent show also saw the people watching peak at 8.8 million while their competitor Ant And Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway had 7.5 million viewers at the most.
However, the series finale of the ITV entertainment show averaged 6.8 million viewers in total, 400,000 more that The Voice UK.

According to ITV, the earlier time for Britain's Got Talent was to allow younger fans of the show to be able to tune in.
However, the younger audience seemed to be tuning out of Doctor Who, which saw their viewers drop by a whopping one million.
The second episode of the new series secured 5.7 million viewers compared to last weeks 6.7 million.
Saturday's episode was the first written by Neil Cross, a new writer to the team who is famed for scripting the award-winning Luther series.
Despite his credentials, fans complained the sci-fi series had moved in the wrong direction, tweeting their complaints as the programme aired.
The Rings Of Akhaten episode featured the Time Lord's new companion Clara Oswald, and a BBC spokesperson said 'the series is in fine form and Jenna-Louise [Coleman] is a big hit with viewers.'
