He says it’s how he keeps himself in tip-top condition. But frankly, Simon Cowell’s beauty regime sounds more like a recipe for exhaustion than eternal youth.
His routine? Hundreds of press-ups a day, work-outs four times a week, regular Botox and colonic irrigation treatments … not to mention vitamin injections administered by a nurse.
There is one relaxing part – a £10.95 lemon bath milk, which Cowell, 53, says he uses daily to help soften and perfume his skin.
The multi-millionaire music mogul revealed the extraordinary lengths he goes to in order to stay youthful during an interview with newsreader Emily Maitlis, published in the Radio Times.
Asked about rumours that he does 500 press-ups a day, he said: ‘It’s all true. I mean, not 500 push-ups, but several hundred.
‘I work out three or four times a week, I have Botox, take tons of vitamins and vitamin infusions – if you believe that these things work, you will feel better.’
His intravenous vitamin injections are a combination of B12, magnesium and vitamin C. He is connected to the drip for half an hour and injected by a nurse at his home.
The remarkably candid interview took place at what Cowell refers to as ‘vampire hours’. Miss Maitlis explained: ‘This is a man who goes to bed at 5.30am and only starts the serious work of the day after 3pm.’
Cowell, who is estimated to be worth £225million, also spoke about his breakdown last year, a result of his punishing work schedule.

In the end, he said, he simply switched his phone off for two months. ‘It was bliss,’ he said.

Simon Cowell interview in Radio Times

‘I went through a phase, it was probably just one unpleasant text message too many, but I thought, “This is going off for a day”. And then it got to two days, then a week.’
Cowell admitted there are moments in some of his shows – which have often faced accusations of being exploitative – which make him feel ‘uncomfortable’.
But he added: ‘But then you look at things with perspective and the truth is – over the years – the show has benefited a lot of people’s lives who wouldn’t have had the opportunity.’
On relationships Cowell, who split from fiancĂ©e Mezhgan Hussainy last year, said: ‘I’m happy single, and when I’m in relationships as well. I tend to be in a relationship more than being single.
‘But I’m very good on my own, a) because I never get bored and b) because there is always something I need to catch up on.
‘I break up very well. I am a good breaker-upper.’
The full interview is in this week’s Radio Times, which goes on sale today.
