The death of Baroness Thatcher led to
a wide range of commentators posting their views about the former Prime
Minister and even celebrities used the opportunity to air their own
opinions. Geri Halliwell led stars talking about the late politician on the social networking site but after posting a message praising Lady Thatcher she swiftly deleted it and apologised to her followers.
The Spice Girl appeared to anger fans by writing: 'Thinking of our 1st Lady of girl power, Margaret Thatcher, a grocer’s daughter who taught me anything is possible…x’ (sic)
Geri quickly deleted the Tweet writing simply: 'I'm sorry if I offended u. X'
The singer has praised Lady Thatcher in the past and in the run up to the 1997 election she said: 'I saw a lot of what Mrs Thatcher did. She was definitely the original Spice Girl rising from the greengrocer's daughter to Prime Minister.'
Lady Thatcher passed away at The Ritz Hotel in London on Monday after suffering a stroke, aged 87.
One disguntled Twitter user wrote: 'So Geri Halliwell tweeted about the 'first Lady of girl power' and then deleted it after getting some stick? Girl power indeed. #thatcher.'

Glamour model Imogen Thomas wrote: 'RIP Margaret Thatcher x,' but removed the tweet and complained the criticism she received was too much for her to take.
