Naming a TV host’s sex addiction as the cause for a legal separation after a 10-year-domestic partnership is remarkable; especially since the couple is expecting the birth of twins via a surrogate in July. David Tutera, the TV host of "My Fair Wedding," is the breadwinner with an income of “more than $1 million a year.” However, because of the TV host’s alleged sex addiction, Ryan Jurica, David Tutera's partner of 10 years, is demanding full custody of the unborn children, reported People on May 2, 2013.
"After repeated attempts at marriage counseling and therapy, we have been unable to save our relationship due to [Tutera's] addiction to sex."
In September of 2003, TV host David Tutera and Ryan Jurica wed in Vermont. In 2013, on New Year’s Day, the couple separated.
On April 19, 2013, David Tutera filed legal papers at the Los Angeles County Superior Court stating “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for the separation. The legal documents also mention the birth of the twins via a surrogate in July.
“In his filing, Tutera seeks full legal and physical custody of the twins, with visitation for Jurica. He also does not wish to pay spousal support and asks that Jurica be responsible for all legal fees related to their split and the division of property.”
On April 17, 2013, two days before David Tutera filed his documents in Los Angeles, Ryan Jurica filed legal papers in Connecticut in order to end the civil union.
In his legal documents, Ryan Jurica named David Tutera's “uncontrollable sexual appetite,” a pattern of hiring sex escorts and prostitutes to support his addiction," and David Tutera’s refusal to “seek help for his hooker addiction” as the cause for the end of the civil union.
Like David Tutera, Ryan Jurica seeks full custody of the unborn kids. In addition, Ryan Jurica asks for financial support from David Tutera in order to be able to make his house payments, car payments, and to cover living expenses.
A tale of two cities, a tale of two men.
According to a May 1, 2013, TMZ report, “in the docs, filed by Jurica's lawyer Bettina D. Hindin, Jurica also says ... David was the one who broke up with him ... and he took it so hard, he went into a downward spiral and checked himself into an in-patient alcohol rehabilitation center.”
After some TMZ digging, TMZ has confirmed that Ryan Jurica has been arrested twice in the past five months, once for DWI and once for public intoxication.
In a statement to People, David Tutera responded to the allegations made by his partner of 10 years.
"The allegations against me are baseless and untrue and I will fight vigorously to defend my reputation in the court of law as well as the court of public opinion. I believe them to be fabrications of a desperate individual in order to gain a legal advantage in our separation."
