Marcus Rashford has welcomed back Dean Henderson to Manchester United training by sharing a hilarious throwback picture of the goalkeeper.

Rashford made his United debut in the last 32 of the Europa League in 2016, scoring twice to take the headlines as his side thrashed Danish champions FC Midtjylland 5-1 on the night.

The striker celebrated both goals by running over to the family stand to embrace supporters and on the second occasion a young Henderson can be seen among the cheering fans.

Rashford had been a late addition to the starting line-up that night after Anthony Martial picked up an injury in the warm-up.

But the forward repaid Louis van Gaal's faith with two goals after United had gone behind earlier in the match.

Henderson had just returned from a one-month loan with National League North club Stockport County and had made the United bench for the first time in a 3-0 FA Cup victory over Shrewsbury following an injury crisis.

The shot-stopper then returned to Stockport to complete his loan and went on to have spells with Grimsby and Shrewsbury before joining Sheffield United in 2018.

The 23-year-old enjoyed two successful seasons on loan with the Blades, earning promotion from the Championship before helping the side finish ninth in the Premier League.

The England international signed a new five-year contract on Wednesday and is set to rival David de Gea for the No1 shirt.

The goalkeeper will hope he will soon be able to celebrate with Rashford on the pitch after cheering on his efforts from the crowd and afar for the last few years.
