'Nina Griscom was a true icon of American style,' Daphne Lingon, head of jewelry at Christie’s Americas, told Barrons.

'Her jewelry collection spans timeless classics through to iconic Art Deco designs presented alongside bold and brilliant emeralds featured in our Magnificent Jewels sale'.

Griscom - who was the stepdaughter of prominent investment banker and diplomat Felix George Rohatyn - was one of America's most prominent fashion models in the 1970s and 80s.

She later went on to host entertainment news programs on HBO and a restaurant review series on the food network.
