Johnson was reportedly estranged from Bamba, whom he accused of violating NCAA rules
Ibrahim Johnson had reportedly been quarreling with neighbors, including Stanley Ford. The victim and the alleged murderer both lived at this Fort Worth-area apartment complex
Following a physical altercation with the other neighbor, Johnson appeared on Ford's patio on the morning of October 18, prompting Ford's girlfriend to call 911. Johnson is said to have left the scene, but was later allegedly confronted by Ford, who was brandishing a shotgun.
Ford is said to have shot Johnson in the chest before standing over him and firing again.
The 26-year-old Johnson had become estranged from his younger half-brother since posting a video on social media in 2017 accusing the 22-year-old Bamba of improperly accepting cash and gifts from a financial advisor in Michigan.
Johnson claimed he turned Bamba into the NCAA in the Facebook video, but the soon-to-be Longhorns freshman was never punished and went on to play a year at Texas before being drafted sixth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft.
According to NBC Sports, Bamba cut his older half-brother out of his career.
NBC also reported that Johnson had his own criminal record, which included arrests for possession of marijuana in South Carolina, for forgery in Ohio, and a hit-and-run in Florida.
Bamba has not spoken publicly about Johnson's shooting.
Although he was never a top prospect, like the 6-foot-10 Bamba, Johnson did play college basketball at Division II Montevallo in Alabama.
Bamba, 22, currently plays for the Magic, who selected him sixth overall at the 2018 NBA Draft
