One worker is crushed to death and another is critically injured after 10-foot brick retaining wall collapsed in Brooklyn
One worker was killed and another suffered grave injuries after a brick retaining wall collapsed in Brooklyn this afternoon.
A construction crew were working at a building site located at 454 42nd Street near 5th Avenue in the Sunset Park neighborhood when the wall collapsed at 1.30pm, according to a spokesperson for the Department of Buildings.
Officials said the wall that came crashing down onto the workers was approximately 10 feet tall.

A body is being taken away on a stretcher after a construction worker was crushed to death by a brick retaining wall in the Sunset Park section
The collapse killed one person on the spot and trapped another, who was later seen being pulled from the rubble by dozens of firefighters.
The surviving worker was taken to a hospital to be treated for serious injuries. The FDNY said the unnamed man was in critical condition, according to CBS New York.
The deceased victim was taken away from the scene in a body bag on a stretcher.

A third worker, Tomel Shamsuddim, who was present at the site with the other two for the last few days had just left the job to get lunch when the wall fell onto his colleagues, reported ABC 7 Eyewitness News.
'God saved me, God saved me,' he said through tears, with his wife sitting by his side.
City building inspectors are now trying to determine what had led to the deadly incident.
