Haunting pictures reveal Stepford Wives director Bryan Forbes' and wife Nanette Newman abandoned Surrey mansion which has been left unoccupied since 2016

An abandoned mansion that was previously owned by The Stepford Wives director Bryan Forbes has been uncovered in a series of haunting images by an urban explorer.  

Explorer and welder William Jones, 31, from West Sussex, decided to enter the Seven Pines mansion, which is located in the village of Virginia Water, Surrey, after it was brought to his attention by his fellow urban exploring friends earlier this year.

The property was once the residence of the late British film director Bryan Forbes and his wife Nanette Newman, who bought their home in 1955 for £7,000. 

Following the director's death in 2013, his wife remained at the house for another three years before finally choosing to leave the residence in 2016.

Upon entering the property, explorer and welder William Jones, from West Sussex, discovered a spacious living room which contained dusty books and litter strewn across the floor

The property, which has been left abandoned since 2016, also came with a spiral staircase that was fitted with a metal railing

The mansion was previously owned by Bryan Forbes ,  who directed the 1975 film The Stepford Wives , and his wife Nanette Newman, who bought their home in 1955 

Images taken by the urban explorer revealed an open plan living room filled with dusty books and empty shelves. 

Another room inside the sprawling mansion featured a spacious living room complete with a fireplace and wooden flooring. 

During his exploration of the property, Mr Jones also discovered an open plan kitchen that came with tiled  flooring, a central island and a gas stove.

A step upstairs revealed a vibrant bathroom fitted with patterned orange tiles and two small windows.

Mr Jones also located a cinema room in the basement, a spiral staircase and six bedrooms inside the property.   

He said: 'The famous staircase drew me to the house. It was amazing to look down from the top.

'The cinema room in the basement was fantastic and there was so much space inside the place.

The urban explorer discovered a corridor that was fitted with bookshelves and which came with an orange carpet

Another room inside the sprawling mansion revealed a spacious ground floor strewn with pieces of paper on the floor 

During his exploration of the property, Mr Jones also discovered an open plan kitchen that came with tiled flooring, a central island and a gas stove

Another room inside the famous property came with wooden flooring and a number of cushions strewn across the floor

A step upstairs revealed a vibrant bathroom fitted with patterned orange tiles, two small windows and a toilet

Along his travels inside the property, Mr Jones also found graffiti along the walls of the staircase   and a fireplace

Another room inside the property in Surrey featured wooden cupboards and drawers, a tiled blue floor and windows

The urban explorer also found a swimming pool in the basement and graffiti art in a bedroom corner closet

'The bright yellow toilet was also amazing. It was like it was from another era completely. The house must have had at least six bedrooms. It was a huge place.'   

A redevelopment company bought the house and the land it sits on for an undisclosed amount and plan to replace the mansion with new properties.     

Born in Stratford, East London, in 1926, Bryan Forbes trained as an actor at the drama school RADA before serving in the military for three years.

Following a number of minor acting roles he set up a production company with his friend Richard Attenborough in 1959, and went on to become one of the the nation's most respected directors. 

He directed a number of iconic films, including 1961's Whistle Down the Wind, which he later described as his most popular film, and the original version of The Stepford Wives in 1974.

His varied work was recognised in 2004 when the director was awarded a CBE for services to the arts and the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. 

Mr Forbes counted the late Queen Mother amongst his friends and worked with some of the UK's most high-profile stars, including Roger Moore, Elton John and Michael Caine. 

The director was married to actress Nanette Newman, who he wed in 1955 after divorcing his first wife Constance Smith.

The couple had two daughters, TV presenter Emma Forbes and journalist Sarah Standing.

Mr Forbes also wrote a number of novels, with his last, The Soldier's Story, being published in 2012.  

He died surrounded by family members at his home in Virginia Water, at the age of 86 following a long illness.
