He then joked: 'My new song is, I Can See Clearly Now The Booze is Gone!'

Molly has now partnered with Mushroom Records to launch his own label, called Luxor, and a publishing imprint, Giza.

The label's first artist is Meldrum's 'genius' grandson Jason, who at just 8-years-old has been described as a 'virtuoso pianist and aspiring violinist' who can speak eight languages.

Molly recently opened up the door of his extravagant Egyptian-inspired Melbourne home.

The property is packed full of decorative mummy cases, along with statues of historical Egyptian kings and queens, with Molly nicknaming his home 'Luxor'.

The 78-year-old veteran music critic gave New Idea magazine a tour of the home as he recalled his horrific 2011 fall, which left him fighting for his life.

'I have an open-door policy. I love hosting parties and spending time with family and friends. It's always lovely to have the house filled with people and music,' Molly said.

He also spoke about his shock fall in December 2011, which saw him fall three metres off a ladder while putting up Christmas lights on his roof.

Molly suffered a fractured skull, swelling to the brain, broken shoulder and ribs, and cracked vertebrae in the horrific accident.

He spent five weeks in a coma in intensive care fighting for his life, but somehow managed to pull through and recover.

The former Countdown host admitted the accident had forced him to acknowledge that he isn't 'bulletproof'.

'You realise that life is short,' he told New Idea.

'I was very lucky that I had many wonderful people caring for me at the time of the accident and afterwards, which was a real godsend.

'I also learnt a lot from the patients in the hospital. Hearing their stories, the hardships they've had to go through… it was humbling.'

Elsewhere in the interview, Molly revealed that he's given up drinking, having not had a drink in four weeks.

Molly admitted he'd been strict in his booze ban, having had 'no champagne, no vodka, no beer… nothing!'

'I feel healthy. I'm definitely sick of the hangovers, but I just thought I had to do it,' he explained.

'Sometimes it's good to take a break from having a drink for general wellbeing and good health. I am getting older and am determined to look after my health as best as I can.'
