NHS staff will face 'massive levels of burnout' and their mental health will be 'very fragile' once the pandemic ends, top doctor warns

NHS staff will face 'massive levels of burnout' and their mental health will be 'very fragile' once the pandemic ends, a top doctor has warned.   Dr Lewis Morrison, the chair of the British Medical Association in Scotland, spoke about the impact the pandemic was having on health professionals. 'There has to be a conversation about what is it we want the NHS to do with the people that we have got to do it, which lets those professionals do it in a sustainable way,' Morrison said. 'Because I think the real risk as we come out of this pandemic are massive levels of burnouts and the risk of that, and the very fragile health, mental health, of the healthcare workforce is going to need a lot of care over the next couple of years.'        Dr Lewis Morrison, the chair of the British Medical Association in Scotland, has warned that NHS staff will face 'massive levels of burnout' once the pandemic ends And he said a 'public messaging campaign' was

The mum of missing RAF airman Corrie McKeague, 23, says she believes the police's theory over the disappearance of her son in 2016 is wrong – after inquest heard he 'died in the back of a bin lorry'

RAF airman Corrie McKeague's mother does not believe police's theory her son died in a bin lorry - saying CCTV showed him leaving the bin area before he disappeared. Nicola Urquhart, 51, said unpublished CCTV footage showed her son, 23, walking out alive from the area where he was last seen after a night out in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, in 2016. Police told her experts examined the footage and decided the figure was a woman in a miniskirt, and not Mr McKeague. But his mother told The Mirror: 'I said the description of a was put out, I've seen CCTV of , she was in dark jeans. That's not a girl, that absolutely is Corrie.' Mr McKeague was last seen alive at 3.25am on Saturday, September 24, 2016.  Nicola Urquhart , 51, said unpublished CCTV footage showed her son walking out alive from the area where he was last seen after a night out in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk CCTV footage showed him entering a horseshoe-shaped area in Brentgovel Street, behind a Superdrug and

Chinese fast-fashion brand you’ve never heard of sells 30,000 super-cheap items to British girls every day – and is accused of piracy, profiteering and mass pollution

Few people over the age of 30 will have heard of the clothes label Shein. Yet from its base 6,000 miles away on the Pearl River delta, this Chinese brand could soon be the biggest retailer of fast fashion in Britain, if it isn't already.  The giant firm is taking on home-grown competitors such as Boohoo, Pretty Little Thing and Missguided, and is expanding rapidly. Backed by ruthlessly efficient marketing through 'influencers' and social-media sites, Shein is filling teenage wardrobes with dirt-cheap tops and skirts. It sells an estimated 30,000 items to Britain every day – that's more than ten million a year – and spends more on advertising in this country than any other clothing label, bewitching a generation of young, almost entirely female shoppers. Shein collaborates with celebrities such as ITV's I'm A Celebrity… winner Georgia Toffolo It is surprising, therefore, how little is known about the company or how it produces garments so cheaply that even the no

Rounding the corner... to calamity: US daily deaths could double to 4,000 within ten days warn experts as nation hits record 90k hospitalizations and Dr. Fauci says 'Christmas and New Year's won't be any different than Thanksgiving'

Health experts are warning that daily deaths from COVID-19 in the United States could double to 4,000 within the next ten days due to the impact of the colder weather and Thanksgiving travel. They caution that despite the prospect of a vaccine, the country's outbreak is far from over and could be 'rounding the corner into a calamity' after hitting a record 90,000 hospitalizations on Thursday. It comes as Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, says that Christmas and the New Year won't be any different to Thanksgiving, as he projected rising coronavirus cases throughout December. The US hit over 13.1 million infections on Black Friday as 205,000 new cases were recorded, likely consisting of some Thanksgiving figures when 20 states did not report any data. It marked the country's 25th consecutive day with more than 100,000 new cases. There have been more than 265,000 deaths in total, with five states setting daily death records this week an

We are so nearly out of our captivity, we can see the sunlit upland pastures ahead... but if we try to jump the fence now, we will tangle ourselves in the last barbed wire, writes PRIME MINISTER BORIS JOHNSON

We can't blow it now. We can’t just throw it all away – not when freedom is in sight. We have worked too hard, lost too many, sacrificed too much, just to see our efforts incinerated in another volcanic eruption of the virus. Once again, the British people have come together to bring Covid under control. Once again, our collective efforts have paid off – and as I write the R rate is once again below one. Across the country, the disease is no longer doubling in prevalence. It is halving. We did it before, in the spring, and now we have done it again.   We have worked too hard, lost too many, sacrificed too much, just to see our efforts incinerated in another volcanic eruption of the virus, writes Boris Johnson But this time it is different. This time we know in our hearts that we are winning, and that we will inevitably win, because the armies of science are coming to our aid with all the morale-boosting, bugle-blasting excitement of Wellington’s Prussian allies coming through the w
