Bus driver is accused of running a red light before fatally mowing down a woman, 24, as she crossed the road outside Westfield Bondi Junction
A bus driver has been charged over a crash that killed a 24-year-old pedestrian in Sydney's Bondi Junction.
The young woman was hit by the bus about 10.15am on Wednesday on Grafton Street, outside the busy shopping complex.
Witnesses performed CPR until paramedics arrived but the woman died at the scene.
The 41-year-old bus driver was taken to St Vincent's Hospital for mandatory testing.
He was later charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, driving in a dangerous manner, negligent driving, and not stopping at a red light.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on January 19.
The crash took place in the bus lane outside the Meriton Suites serviced apartments, just one street away from Bondi's Westfield shopping centre.
A security guard had just finished his shift and was driving home when he saw the body of a blonde woman in a pool of blood behind the bus.
One of the man's friends said he was 'traumatised' after trying in vain to save the woman before paramedics arrived.
'It was a terrible sight. She had been knocked over. My friend saw a bus with its hazard lights on and jumped out when he saw her,' he told The Daily Telegraph.
'The bus driver was not far away and he was distraught, pacing back and forth.'
Inspector Nadia Tomlinson, Duty Operations Manager for NSW Ambulance, said paramedics worked tirelessly to resuscitate the woman.
A report on the young woman’s death will be prepared for the coroner.

Police officers and rescue teams spoke to distraught witnesses and directed traffic away from the area.
Locals reacted to the news on social media, with many slamming the location as 'dangerous' and offering their condolences.
'That's such a dangerous area there! RIP lovely,' one person wrote.
'The whole BJ bus/train interchange is not designed for this amount of traffic,' another added.
