Police charge man, 28, with attempted murder after four-month-old girl is found seriously injured inside a home

Police have charged a 28-year-old man with attempted murder after a four-month old baby girl was seriously injured inside a home.

Jordan Lee, 28, was initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after the baby was found severely hurt in Layton, Blackpool, on Thursday evening.

The girl was rushed to Blackpool Victoria Hospital before being transferred to Alder Hey Children's Hospital - where she remains in a critical condition. 

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service Lee - from Blackpool - was charged with attempted murder.

He has been remanded in custody after appearing in Preston Magistrates Court this morning.

The victim's family are currently being supported by specially-trained officers. 

DCI Eric Halford, of Blackpool Police, said: 'Firstly, my thoughts are with the loved ones of the baby girl at this incredibly difficult time.

'She remains in hospital in a critical condition and her family are being supported by specially trained officers.

'While a man has been charged, our investigation is very much ongoing and I would ask anyone with information or anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area around that time to contact police.'
