Mr Hoyle spent roughly £20,000 at the Five Jumeirah Village Hotel for two top floor penthouses with a private terrace, enjoying six-litre bottles of Laurent Perrier champagne and £1,700 six-litre bottles of Ciroc vodka.

Peter Garry, a friend of Mr Hoyle for 20 years, said he and the group never expected Mr Hoyle to be so generous, providing them with the 'best week of lives'.

Mr Garry said: 'He's the best friend anyone could have. There's never been anything flash about him and the win hasn't changed him a bit - he's still the same great guy.'

He added: 'I'm used to lager and burgers at stag dos with the lads in Spain but there was absolutely no expense spared in Dubai.
