'When the wife says she needs a "lockdown shop".'

The footage has received mixed messages from users, with some accusing the family of 'panic buying'.

One wrote: 'Selfish comes to mind glad we are thinking of others during the pandemic.'

Another said: 'That'll be all the wee pensioners going without now that the panic buying has commenced.'

A third commented: 'Lucky for those who can afford excessive shopping … Nice of them to be thoughtful and empty the shelves for those who can't.'

But Jay was quick to respond to the comments, saying: 'Show me the panic buying? That's a family shop to last 4/5 days … we're a big family stuck in the house … need plenty of snacks.'

This comes after some shops have begun rationing stock amid fears panic buying will reach levels seen during first lockdown.

Aldi has begun rationing toilet roll, pasta, flour and eggs as supermarket bosses urge customers to 'shop responsibly' and not panic buy.

The product limits, which restrict shoppers to just three of each item, follow similar moves by rival chain Tesco.

This comes after as shelves were stripped bare on the first day of Britain's third national lockdown.
